I know clones are the way to go but for knowledge purposes, Is there a good way to weed out the males before planting out doors?

No one would want to dig a 5 gallon hole fill it with good dirt only to come a pull out a male. Its a waste of time energy and money, also you have no claer vision of you yields.

What im thinkign is start it at 12/12 from seed but does it effect the plant drasticly to go from 12/12 for weeks then put out side in the spring? Is there any options?

I dont want to hear about clones I know about it.

you can simply start them out under 18/ 6, and when they got old enough, take some clones and put the clones in 12 /12 till they show sex for you.. once you sex the clones, toss the males and either flower the females or leave them in veg for how ever much longer that you want to ... this cuts down on stress from either starting them on 12 / 12, or starting them in veg mode, then switching them to flower to sex them, than back to veg again..
the more that you screw around with the light schedule the more it's going to stress out the plants in the long run, never a good idea..

How about dig the 5 gallon holes when the plants show sex. A plant that is young only needs a handful of soil. Use pots at the planting site and after they show sex get to diggin. Males need a long time as well as females before they begin pollinating, you will have 2-4 months after starting the plants outdoors.

yah, there's not too much you can do.. you can either just simply leave them in veg for a long period of time, usually like 6 weeks or so from seed is old enough for them to show preflowers, or you can take clones and flower the clones while you continue to veg the moms, or lastly you can start from 12 / 12, which i don't really think it a good idea honestly..

The problem im seeing is that you kinda need 2 dif areas and 2 lights. Can a clone be flowerd with sometihn like a 50 wat CFL put really close? Doing this only to get the sex then scrap the clone
