Best way to cut holes in my rubbermaid?

Hey guys and gals, almost done with my custom DWC bubble bucket. Was just wondering if anyone had any tips for cutting holes into the top of my rubbermaid? I am using 5" net pots and don't have a hole cutter that big. I was also considering using an Igloo cooler for my next bucket, but the plastic on those are very thick and tough. Anyone know what to use to cut big holes in those? Thanks!

just set your net pot on top of the plastic and trace around the edge with a sharpie.. then cut with an exacto knife or a soldering iron. for the igloo cooler, get a piece of 3 or 4 inch styrofoam and use the same procedure. check out flo gros grows. he grows in an igloo.

If you happen to have a multi max laying around or know someone with one they cut anything any shape. That's what I use no need for big expensive hole saws.

Just go to Wal Fart and spend $19.88 on a 12gal Igloo w/o a drain, or $24.88 w/ a drain.
$25 for 2 inch thick insulated styrofoam sheet that's 4ft x 8ft (will make 8 lids), from Lowes.
$5 for Aluminum Foil Tape to COMPLETELY wrap the lid.
Use THE BOTTOM of your net pots as a stencil since the top of the pots plus the rim, is wider than the bottom.
Take a simple steak knife and cut out the hole.
Wrap the inside of the cut outs with tape too, or the styrofoam will get wet and soaked from the inside-out.
Run your tubing over the edge of the cooler and under the lids, like me.
OR, use a #2 pencil to poke holes at a 45 degree angle (blocks light) instead of straight down, and run the tubing that way.

Bottom line is you're going to battle high water temps unless you have a chiller running constantly, bcuz even frozen water bottles won't be enough after a while.
Just the facts of it.

I just built a 20 gal. bucket tonight! Ill i did was take the netpot turn it upside down and trace it then took a razor blade and ran it around on the inside of the circle, about the same distance the lip on the pot is! I didnt try to press the blade thru the lid just about half way to leave a good line! then when i was done with the circle I made one cut all the way thry from one side of my new circle to the other. then the circle just peeled out where I had made the line with the razor. I only put 4 in my bucket but the fit very snug! they kinda snap into place! I bought glue just in case but they stay tight! all of them worked first try! no trimming! can post pics if needed! Used a hot coat hanger to make holes for the air lines to for the air stones. Have one air stone under each pot!
