My latest grow for transition Im following the crop steering method and its looking good so far, knock lights back a couple of hours each day over a week, lower lights on temp a few degrees, shorten the Diff between day/night temps, raise CF, run a slightly drier medium.

I'm just wondering if this is common practice in other industries like flower nurseries? Or just some bro-science that made it to print and everyone still believes its true because it is in a book that was written by a goofball.
Back in the day, when shit was illegal everywhere, books and friends was the only source of knowledge. I didn't read Cervantes. But had some Ed Rosenthal books. Still have some of them. It was better than nothing. I have more respect for people who started when it was illegal and doing it for the cause. Too many spoiled newbies now if you ask me.

Is this theoretical experience or real world experience?
Here's a link to a growreport of Indian landraces, the Kerala on bloomday 120 still throws leaves and new pistills, vertical growth just like the previous months before.
It didn't bud out and you see in the subsequent pictures that the trichs are mostly clear and none of the calyx were swollen

Just change the timer. Literally nothing to it. Wanting to deviate from standard practices is why so many new growers fail. When you’re first learning a skill do not think for yourself just follow the standards.

Is there any documented research from anyone else besides Cervantes that shows an extended dark period before switching to 12/12 will "jump start" flower set?
Put it this way.

It’s not going to make it veg longer is it?

So of course it’s going to trigger flowering in some respect.

Does it make much of a difference? 1 day, 2 days less time? I’d imagine that’s all you’d shave off if anything at all.

But to say it does nothing is a bit short sighted. Better to say it won’t do much.

Your plants, do what you feel is right (within reason lol)

Experimenting with darkness before flowering is the smallest marijuana sin you can commit lol
