damn what a nice setup you got going on. i think im going to try 1 more soil grow and then switch over to what you got going on. your first grow had a crazy root system, cant get that image out of my head. +rep

cheers Chuck. and that root system was having 3 plants in about 1 gallon of water. with the two in flower at the moment, each plant now has a gallon each so fingers crossed for bigger buds. one thing i found on the first grow is that all those roots strangled the airstones. i'm visiting my parents this weekend and have some aluminum grille which i'm gonna bring back with me. firstly to make a filter which will sit on top of the light hood and second to act as a buffer for the air stones. pics coming on sunday when i'm back.

mmmm bud arrrggghh. looking good as ever gypsy. i will have to give the two week rotation some serious thinking. i dont think current setup will allow it and i don't have any more space... but i will get those worms doing what they do best.

i'm cool, need to start looking for a job. its now nearly 11 months i've been sitting on my arse . hows the leg doing?

quick update, no photos till later, they are sleeping.

no joy with the last two bag seeds. one cracked and popped a root in the paper towel but after sticking into the ag nothing. i did let the paper towel dry out to much.

as for the other seedlings, they are still growing however the blue cheese is looking very pale. i'll probably need to pop the pot out and clean the dripper. it's the same ag hole that got blocked on the first grow.

pics of the two in flower after 6pm gmt.

Yeah... time to use some of the stuff you learned with the AG and get betterresults....

i dont think current setup will allow it and i don't have any more space...
It won't... we need to get you set up with a homemade rubbermaid tote ebb flow set up...

You can do it real cheap... 2 totes.. some hose... a pump... and then you will need pots, hydroton, and that's it...

You can use the same lights you have been using...

What are the dimensions of your growspace? I mean emptied out... completely vacant...

but i will get those worms doing what they do best.
They do work well sometimes... and this is one of the times that I really hope they do... You would be really happy harvesting every two weeks....

The setup I made to fit in the tent can easily hold 8 plants in pots...

That would be 2 plants every two weeks... and with about a 1/2 oz per plant... that is not bad....

i'm cool, need to start looking for a job. its now nearly 11 months i've been sitting on my arse .
Sounds like me.... :wall:

You need a room and some HPS is what you need...lol....

hows the leg doing?
Better thanks.... I am already cutting back on the meds again....

just cleaned the ag and changed the rez. the seedling thats pale is in pic 2.
Are you feeding it yet? looks hungry to me.... but what do I know?

Cheers Bro... :eyesmoke:

my tent is only 60x60x120cm. just enough room for my two tubs and big ass air pump. plants are getting tall so i'm gonna have to move my fan outside soon.

a bit like you... both my legs are fully functional tho lol.

a house was on the cards a year ago before the current financial unpleasantness...

i changed the rez with 2/3 hydro nutes so we will see how that goes. as predicted tho the ag dripper things had salty deposit build up, so i cleaned the gunk out.

not cutting back on the proper meds tho, i hope.

OK.. so you have... 23"long x 23"wide x 47" tall...

I am gonna run up and measure what I Have real quick...

But the tent is 36"x20" and it fits with plenty of slack...

I'll get back to you on this one...

My leg is getting much much better after this last surgery...

They removed a bunch of hardware that was pinching and biting me in several spots....

It is a relief....

Things will swing up again... let's get you set up with a perpetual personal grow... that is efficient enough to maybe have some surplus....

I got lettuce in my AG now.. the are doing ok... but you should see the lettuce in the ebb flow.... K-RAZY... you might have seen them in that last update...

not cutting back on the proper meds tho, i hope.
No.. I hate pain killers though....

Let me run and get them dimensions real quick....:bigjoint:

just taken some pics of the plants in flower. pic 3.

the first and second are my attempt at filtering the air. didn't work as well as i had hoped, it restricts airflow to much. so back to the drawing board on that. for the money tho i may just buy a proper one.

oh yeah. gypsy this one is really for you but anyone is free to add their advice.

would you do organic nutes in hydro? my current opinion is no. that's more for giving advice to others doing dwc or ag.

now for my grow. i want to do the lollipop trim but i'm still not sure what i should trim. where exactly do the bud sites grow apart from the obvious. not sure how to explain the question better.

OK so I measured the tote I have....

The system sits at...

18"wide x 25" long x 18" height of tray where the pots go...

so you need to find a plastic tub that fits your space...

You have plenty of room... Ebb flow does not take up that much more room.... just the pots... and you can buy short fat ones...

As for the carbon...

I have 40lbs of activated carbon working with 424 cfm ...

Little fans don't have the umph...

You are at a critical stage... don't cheat yourself... if you know you are going to keep growing, buy the right equipment... one piece at a time...

Get an aircooled hood with glass.. (get rid of the cardboard) it will fit...

They even make one that the duct comes out the top like you have and draws air from grills around the reflector...

Let's get you set up so you will not need to upgrade unless you move to a warehouse...lol...

Did you see the pics of my homemade ebb flow?

I would stay away from organic in hydro just because I like my plants to be the only living organism in my growspace...

No bacteria for me thanks....;-)

The guidelines I have been following per Al B. Fuct is to trim the lower third of the plant and anything that grows more than one inch...

Basically you only want the buds that grow from the main stem...

NO BRANCHES ALLOWED... so you gotta have pretty good light... if they stretch, every budsite will become a branch and you will have a 3" cola...

I hope this makes sense...

Just trim the lower third of the plant and anything that grows more than one inch...:eyesmoke:

yeah the no organics in hydro just makes complete sense to me but i see people recommend hygrozyme when people have root problems. when i was researching root problems people said it just made things worse (in hydro of course). which doesn't surprise me as it's organic.

mmm as for the lollipopin i'm still not sure. i guess chop less will be the key until i'm clear in my head with process.

424 cfm works out at 720 m3h. what fan are you using? mine does 250 m3h and when i zip up the tent all the sides suck in. a premade filter only cost about £35 for my size fan so i think i may get one.

i will get an hps when this grow is done. just wondering if i would need a bigger fan for a 400w. the tent is only 'rated' at 250w but i have a feeling the fan would cope. the only other worry is the distance i need to keep between the light and the canopy as i only have 4 feet in height to play with.

another question. ballasts. are they wattage rated? so if i tried a 250w hps setup but then decided to go 400w would the same ballast be ok.

OK so assuming you are stuck with the tent... and you have no more space...

Here is what I would do....

Get a 400 watt HPS (and yes, ballast must match the bulb... always.. period)

An air cooled hood that vents from your space through the hood and out through the fan and carbon scrubber...

The fan and filter can be outside...

My hoods are both 18" square and 10" tall...

You have room to do single colas like I am... with the glass on the hood you can treat a 400 watt light almost as a fluorescent.. and keep it inches away...

I say a good 6" centrifugal fan (400cfm range) with a matching filter and hood....

Remember the filter and hood will slow the fan way down... and you can always get a speed controller for US$20 and slow it down to suit your needs...

ebbflow set up for 8 plants... harvest 1 a week or 2 every 2 weeks, or 4 every month...

With a 400 up close.. you can get the same 1/2 to 3/4 oz most people get with Single colas....

Just do the math... save some cash... get the things you need one at a time..

How does that sound?:bigjoint:

You will grow more... don't upgrade 32.6 times... buy the biggest you think you will ever need...

I am so HAPPY I went with the 600... but the 400 is adequate for your space and a little bigger when the time comes....

mmmm pubescent bud, aaaarrrrrggghh. <comment removed to protect the guilty>.

at this moment in time that looks like a lot of work. i will be referring back tho when the time comes.

if i were to get a 600w ballast could i stick a 250 or 400 on it? or do they need to match?

the place i got my tent from has these reflectors.

http://www.hydrolab.co.uk/ebay/Prolite-Air/images/prolite-air-large-02.jpg

it will fit nicely in my tent and hook up to the fan easily.
