Per the expert growers from advanced nutrients its 18 inches from the top of the plant.
I have to say talking to them 20 min. I learned more then I did in 3 months of YouTube videos and reading. Gave me ALOT if insight on what to do and when. So I'm extremely happy with the way they look. Roots are very long already and down in the pals.

One thing that's worked for me was to cover the tops of the net pots with reflective HVAC tape. My light was heating up the black plastic and in turn heating up the water. After I covered them with the tape my temp dropped almost 10 degrees lights on and the temp is more constant now. I use the 6" because they require less hydroton, not sure how effective this would be with larger diameter net pots though due the smaller surface area around the pebbles. I might someday cover the whole bucket, but I'm guessing there might be a better way that I haven't found yet.

Good luck on your grow, I'm on my first dwc grow myself, the most important thing so far is I need to check my ph and ppms dailey left them alone for a few days and I got nutrient lockout ph was way to high I just switched to advanced nutrients myself good luck.

Haven't had an issue yet with my water temp. But I'm thankful for the input I'm sure it will be coming up soon.

Ya I noticed the ph is very jumpy. Mine went to the low end so I had to add ph up

I'm not that far ahead of you, 1st DWC (turned RDWC after week 3) and learning more almost every day. I'm on week 8 of my feed schedule which means I've just started my 4th week of 12/12. I really didn't have my tent dialed in until about 3 weeks in but now it's kind of on cruise control apart from defol stuff. I really just want a bigger tent now, and more buckets, lights, and BUDS!

I hope you don't mind me posting a few things on your thread, just trying to help with some stuff that's worked for me on the cheap. I had all the same questions and issues going on only a few weeks ago. This is a great place to learn. Looks like you're getting the hang of it

O I dont mind, like my ladies I'm taking in as much as I can with everyone's help.
I'm with you, I want a bigger tent and more buckets.
This I'm counting as week 3 of veg as my seeds didnt pop when I was planning so my first week I just counted that out.
Last week I topped two of the 3 ,last night I tied them down to low stress train them. As soon as it's ready I'll top again. I might have to wait and extra two weeks before I go into flower because my critical purple kush is still small and is fighting to grow. I'm working on a few things to see if I can get her to catch up to the other two, if not then I'll just veg them all 2 extra weeks.
But definitely post all you like here I would be appreciated to see and hear how your doing to give myself some more knowledge. Happy growing my friends.

Week 3 of veg. The girls are looking good. My purple kush is finally getting some grow on. Roots are looking great. The foam is from my nutrients I guess. Or that's what I been told by the advanced nutrients hotline. Still very proud of how they are coming along. Everything is on a timer or thermostat. Using a zoo med hydrostat. Controls the heat and humidity. And my fan is running on a cheap heat/cool thermostat I got on Amazon. Mostly runs fine on it's own but I am checking ph and ppms everyday and its 5.8 to 6.01 the ppm is at 1430 the water is about 64 to 68 ° f its probably to late to do it now. But did I have to take the rockwool off? I was told to just leave it in the rockwool and just start growing.

Advanced nutrients has a hotline number for helping anyone. 1-800-640-9605. The guy sounds like wolf man Jack. But knows his stuff.
So far the nutrients I'm using are working out great.
**caution**
I buy my stuff on Amazon and the cheapest I can. So I say it hasn't happened to me personally but I have read reviews where they got mold in bottles and so on. So use your discretion.

Into week 4 (what I'm calling week 4)
Ladies are looking great. Topping nicely, the little one (my purple) now topped twice and taking it nicely.
Without causing any issue to my other two, would it hurt them if I kept them in veg for 2 weeks after. So the purple can catch up a little bit.
I'd like to hault any grow to the bigger two. Any suggestions?

Update on my ladies, they are doing well, had a bit of an issue as my heater died and temp dropped to 57 for a day. Called advanced nutrients and was told they would be fine, had me mix 1 tsp of b-52 with 32 oz of water and mist the plants as they got very droopy. Said in about 4 or 5 days they would look like they did before. But all good.
