Black weed... what does it mean?

I recently got hold of some weed after a massive drought (apparently it's purple haze) but it's all like blackened and weird from the stalk out, looks like it's been singed or something? I'm thinking it's some kind of mold maybe... do you think it's safe to smoke??
 
Some purps develop such a rich dark purple after a cure that it looks black...

Does the actually bud/calyxes/leaf look black, or does it appear to have black ON it?

Pics would help.
 
alot of strains that grow purple turn almost after drying and curing.i used to skoke black domina..looked like what you explain....could tell for sure with a picture.
 
Apologies for really poor pics but hopefully you can see the darker patches, there's more black than green in real life though :\

Back in the day when I used to grow outdoors, if I would harvest after a light frost it would sometimes turn the buds a deep purple and they would look almost black when they were dried and cured. The weed was still damn good! There is also a strain called "The Black" from BC Bud Depot I think.:weed:

It is really crappy bud, really leafy *sniff* :'( but like you said, it's better than nothing... right? :D lol

Thanks for replying guys! I got freaked out cuz i read somewhere that if it was moldy and i were to smoke it, it could be lethal :blsmoke: o.o
 
I don't even know if I could smoke that after this long of never seeing stuff like that.

I guess I'm lucky to have been born on the West coast. Just smoked Grapefruit for the first time and I only needed about half as much bud as normal to get the high I wanted. Makes me wish I was medical so I could always have my hands on stuff like that. dude couldn't take anymore to the dispensary. I get a lot of good indica around here tho

where you live at man that bud don't look good at all but hey if it gets you high then i guess it doesnt matter what it looks like
 
I had a friend harvest some that looked very similar. It looked like it was a hermie that was harvested too early. However, his didn't have dark coloration... Hope that helps... I know it's not much. :S
 
Haha yeah it DOES look like the plastic christmas tree prongs! o.O it's definately not plastic though... Times are desperate here (from UK but the area i'm in is suffering a major dry spell) so you gotta take what ya can get! I got some better stuff but i'm saving that for rainy days :3
 
10 years later.... hope this forum is still active. I am having the same issue. Blackened buds with dry BLACK stems, also looks like white dust on some stems and some stems just look white....?

I remember back in the day there was a bust that got buried in the dump from the cops. the weed was dug up and sold for cheap.
it was gross tasting and looking but cheap so we smoked it. hahhaa the good old day smoking fucking dump weed
