i was in the woods today and i came across some bloodroot and i remembered that one of my friends that studys plants said you can dry it out and grind it into a dip and its like opium

i would like to know if anyone else has heard of this because this stuff is every where in the woods

no interesting if true i assume he meant similar effects to opiates as there are very few opiate alkaloid producing plants.

.. no he could be correct in what he stated.

Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), it shares the same family as Opium Poppies (Papaver Somniferum). Now bloodroot is actually toxic (sanguinarine is the toxin released), BUT bloodroot produces morphine-like benzylisoquinoline alkaloids. So it is plausible that it could have opiate-like effects without being an opiate per se. Beyond this, I don't have any information pointing towards it being used recreationally.

me to it has been a long road my brain is tired. i have heard kratom contains opiate like alkaloids and is used by people detoxing off heroin and such i enjoy opiates theres just too many negatives to enjoy frequently.
