I'm 90% sure they worked together
I'm sure at some point but I was pretty early on and only a snip of as told to me Dj's cut

No clue what went down with them
Just lucky maybe
Got to live thru the real Northern Lights, Columbian red bud, Columbian Gold , Acapulco gold, Thai stick ... and had some amazing older friends
who schooled me in all the wrong ways

Growers were more daring then , Bro-science was prevalent and rarely was info exchanged let alone the social media

But my limited group of growers told me it was a legit cut and it took longer than 10 weeks at the time

I always just assumed the best of cuts were a sativa dominant and we probably harvested too early on the regular

I never tasted that back in the day blueberry funk since

Like many strains
Maybe it was Dj's basement ?:o:D

The sativa phenos were more desirable because they cloned faster, grew faster, were more pest/mold resistance and yielded more than the indica phenos.

Out of the 3 females I had in 02, 2 were green throughout grow and very vigorous, had descent fruity terps. The 1 purple stem pheno had twisted leaves, grew slow, was a bitch to clone, horrible pest resistance but tasted great, looked great and super potent put you to sleep stone.

I let it got because I was a rookie back then and thought I could just go buy another pack and get an exact replica.

A sativa pheno with that flavor would be money for sure so probably why more people wanted sativa pheno, plus a better high than being put to sleep.

A buddy has given me a 3-pk of these, but from what I've read this may not be the blueberriest anymore.. ...any truth to that?? Even though it would have parented literally ANYTHING blueberry out there, right? But have any of the "students" beaten the "master" yet?

I want to find something for my dad with crazy blueberry terps. He told me an old story, and now I want to surprise him with these.
I ran some of these last year outside and they were very blueberry-y. I'd soak em if I were you. Do it!

lemonhokos are all pre 99 BB stock, before DJ lost all his breeding genetics... ansd started over(not that that means much)hence the pre nomenclature
The AKBB is advertised as non related and pre-dates DJ Short's BB.

I would feel confident about running his Vintage BB or HSC BB Muffin to scratch the BB itch. I don't have any personal experience with those two but they review here positively.

That's a widely heald story. On the other hand you have a reputable guy like AKBB saying things that contradict that. I discount about a third to half of reputable newspaper content as being suspect and that's recent history, you can imaging how much faith I have in cannabis history from fifty years ago.

I don't know what's true or not. Only thing I can tell you for sure is that DJ BB I grew out last summer was pretty fuckin blueberry-y:bigjoint:

I grew Dj’s blueberry back in the day
No one mentions it took forever to finish
We grew fields of it and it was always a crap shoot wether it was finished or bud rot would set in. It was really prone to rot and had to be checked daily near the end. Funny though, people still ask “what ever happened with the blueberry”? We lost all the whole house of cuts in the great ice storm of 98 :(.

They had the good line from dj as always described as a "stretch indica " theres was the best ive tried but that was ages ago mind you there is a seperate line from canada also called kootenay blueberry but thats meant to be a afghan line that tastes of blueberry i wonder if thats the one folks are talking about that predates djs line

Lots of rumors, speculation about who has the real deal, etc... Who even knows for sure what's what these days. I bet there are numerous growers here in Oregon that don't follow cannabis forums still growing the real deal. It was pretty popular back in the black market days years before legalization.

Picture some 70+years old guy tending to his plants without a clue that people are going manic over the plants he's growing.
