another idea might be to pull a clone and sex that, either way is fine. I do it both ways, good luck!!
Never thought of going after the sexing by pulling clones and sexing them, great suggestion. It will save time with these cuz they can continue to veg while the clones a getting their sex on:eyesmoke:

What up. I alway's do the uncle ben's topping.
Root the topped portion. Then flower the clone to sex.
That way the the girl's are already headed toward's motherdom.

Here are some recent pics of the hijack babies. They seem to be doing fine. I transplanted them into new containers and they are getting ready for the big room, 1000 watter for more veg time. I still have 2 more plants that need to finish under that lamp (12/12) then it is their turn. I have been putting them outside during the day because my indoor veg room is too small for them in these containers, like my garden tools old grogery cart. I use it for moving them around the yard.

Most of them have been topped at their 5th node and are ready for bushing out.

Thanks Dr. for dropping back in. Can't wait to watch them fill in after the topping and puttin them into the big room in a few days.

All these babies have been topped and are starting to gain some side growth and height. They seem to like their new room. I have them on an 18/6 veg schedule. Once the side shoots grow out some more I'll be pinching those side shoot tips for more bushing. In a couple weeks I'll attempt cloning for sexing purposes and see how that turns out.

Sounds like you got a solid gameplan, looking good man! :leaf:
Can;t wait to take bud shots of these plants. I always find the vegging part to be a bit annoying, immediate gartification is pleasing, where's my buds??? lol.

Good morning Dr. G, glad to see ya here.

So the side growth is filling in nicely. I was wondering how long I should wait for taking a cutting for sexing purposes? If it is okay to take clones now where chould I take them from?

Or should I just continue to pinch the tips for more bushing for now?

Or am I just plain ol' gettin ahead of myself? haha :wall:

i'd let them grow some more.

hijack usually shows preflowers at the 8th to 12th node once they get at least 12 nodes tall. if you look in the area you have circled in your pic when they are 12 nodes tall you should see a preflower or two next to the stalk. when it's a female you will see a definite hair or 2.

This is good to know because I was going to sex the cuttings now I'll just leave em be so they can do what they do. Thanks for checking them out FDD, always good to hear from the one who built the strain.

A couple of weeks ago I put the plants under the 1000 watt hps on an 18/6 lighting schedule to veg longer. They grew a bit larger then began to show their sex. So far I have pulled 3 males and put a female under 24 hours of cfls to use her as a mother plant. Under the 1000 watter I left 8 plants and so far another female and no more males have showed up. 3 males out of 12 beans is a great male to female ratio however I wasn't totally ready for them to flower yet. I did go ahead and change the light cycle to 12/12 today so I wasn't fighting with mother nature.

My questions are: will my mother plant continue to veg now that I have her under the 24 hour light? She only has one preflower so far so will it take her a total 3 weeks to revert back to veg?

they aren't flowering. they are simply showing their sex. they will veg under 18/6 just fine. no need to change to 12/12 or 24/0. they will show 3 or 4 "pre flowers" then stop. this is was hijack does. :eyesmoke:

Thanks for the quick response FDD.

Okay so that makes me feel much better. Glad to know what the sexes are early for pulling males. I'll go out there now and switch the schedule back to 18/6, they never did have a complete 12/12 cycle cuz just changed the timer this morning. What do you think about the mother I pulled, should she go back to the big room or leave her where she is? I will for sure switch her light cycle back to 18/6 no matter if I put her in with the others or leave her in her own room.
