ya i do have some trainwreck and agent orange in the same system.. the agent are gonna finish a week earlier than anything else.. i am thinkin about just letting them suckers go an extra week and make em suuuuper stoney.. let em just decompose right there in the system lol.. either that or i will just chop a week early, move the wreks around to get most light and let them go another week, then clip em.. havent quite decided yet..

one thing is for sure, it is sticky and stinky in that bizzatch! i gotta go buy a dehumidifier in the next week or so LOL

anyways back on topic.. who thinks this setup would NOT yield more than a typical hooded 3x3? I am quite curious

Thats a good way of putting it. I guess no one can really say it wont yield as much. Your just gonna have to go for it.

Maybe single level, single bulb vertical grows will be better, your just gonna have to move the plants a lot.

One thing that also kinda sucks about vertical, you cant use light rails, which gives a flat grow a huge added bonus.

Hmmm.... maybe a 2k cooltube vertical light rail grow will be in the near future? :leaf: :-P

That would be a monster grow room.

I think its a good use of the light but at the same time you have to worry about the plant getting too close.

The above posters idea of utilizing a cool tube is good. Because then the plants can get even closer.

you really cant appreciate how close the plants can get without burning in a vertical bulb setting without trying it.. i literally have plants that are growing 8inches from the light with no signs of burn or curl or anything.. its quite amazing.. also you wouldnt have to move the plants because they would already all have exacting uniform light.. the only reason i have to move plants around in my vert setup is because i am not utilizing my light exactly how i should and i have multiple strains in the system which tend to choke out some of the other ones.

also you could easily make a small cage to weave the plants through or use trellis netting to hold em back.. either way it would work fine.

and i dont see why you couldnt use a light rail to move the bulbs back and forth like a flat garden.. seems like a good idea too... hmmm...

i am excited to see how this turns out.. i invited heath robinson to check out this thread when he has a minute.. i consider him the godfather of vertical growing.. he is coming out with a new vert setup this next week so i am excited to say the least.. i just really think that with a plant that will do large single colas from bottom to top this system would be unbeatable.

this looks cool! okay, try rain gutters. you cant go round, but they wrap them suckers around all kinds of crazy houses. i dont see why you cant get a pentagon or better with rain gutters.

You can get flex rain gutters. But why not use PVC fence post, its strait but an octagon would be more efficient then a circle for growing plants.

not that im trying to argue or anything but why would an octagon be better for plants? i would think a circle would be best because all the plants would get an even amount of light. i know an octagon is better than a square for sure but i dont see what it would improve?

Because with a circle the plants will get crowded. With an octagon you will have more usable space around the bulb.

Octagons have the advantage of strait sides along the bulb like the square, but you dont lose space in the corners. The circle would get to crowded and require a lot more pruning.

oh, i just remembered my idea for using a light mover. it would require modification but we dig that shit right?

this application would require a tiered system and lots if vertical height. use the mover ti move the light up and down hanging from a chain. you wouldnt even need an expensive mover, just a small motor witha chain drive hooked up somhow to control the speed. hook the light to the chain with a drop hook so at the peak the bulb hangs a foot or two below the wheel and bam, all you do is put a chain as long as you like on it.

really you could go as high as you like and put countless bulbs on the chain. stories tall with dozens of bulbs!

am i crazy?

okay, is real basic but if you need a better one tell me i might be able to accomadate.

red is the chain, the wheel at the top is hooked to a motor w/speed control, the black hook is holding the bulb low enough so it doesnt contact the wheel at the top. like i said, as tall as you can go with as many lights as you want.

pretty near. It's like was said before a hybrid of the different styles. You could do your crazy shapes and such too. They make I think 15 degree plumbing elbows. I would go to a plumbing outlet store first over lowes etc as they would have a greater selection. Depending on your media type, you could even have a vent fan or blower to blow down the pipes from the top. This would help the roots dry out faster as not to be over saturated (not that it's a real concern on ebb and flow systems) but this could also double as an air bubbler on the res end of the system. Good luck on this!

if you had two systems side by side, you could do a typical light mover, and have two pulleys on either end so that when the light mover went to the left, one side would go down, one side would go up, and when the pulley went to the right, one side would go up, and the other side would go down

You could use an electric garage door opener to make a custom light mover quite easily.

:peace:
kinda loud and impractical dont you think?

i bet you could make one like i drew up for under 30 bucks.

little motor
bicycle sproket
long ass bike chain
hook things

thats all you would need.

The openers arent loud, its the garage door moving that makes the noise.

i guess. it would be pretty easy to reg the button wire up to a timmer too.

and dont they start at about 70 bucks!
