Can you use raw unrefined brown sugar instead of molasses? Isn't molasses the by product when they refine brown sugar intowhite sugar.

I use 1 tsp of brown sugar that has molasses in it per gallon of water. The soil micros love it!
Ingredients listed are:

Molasses
I also mix a small handfull in my soil mixes to start.
and use this water and sugar regimine only for young sprouts and seedlings (10-15 days from peeking their heads out).
