Bubble hash - play dough consistency

We have been making ice water hash from trim for some time now and it was always very light brown after the extraction and then we usually pressed it with some heat to a very sticky tree resin like consistency. Depending on the temperature it was either hard and brittle or kinda soft.

The last 2 times it started off the same but after a week or so it became very soft with a grainy, play.dough like consistency. It is still very potent but I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Could this be caused by contamination or a mistake along the process? If this is a normal process I wonder why it never happened before.

Strains were Goji Og and some Pineapple Express in the first batch that turned into play dough and Jabbas stash in the 2nd.

First make sure to dry your hash completely 100% before pressing it. Then if you press it. Make sure to cure or for 2 months. It always gets softer as it cures.

Personally I like leaving the hash microplaned and only press it when I take a dab.

Also make sure when you make hash and dry hash, the ambient temp is below 65 degrees and humidity below 35%. To prevent the trichome heads from oxidizing.

When it's done. Warmer temps will make it greasy and turn dark. Cool temps keep it from carking our or turning greasy and stays white to blonde

Probably waxes are in it. It's like how BHO will wax up if it's not winterized. If you extract the oil, winterize it, and then knead the leached and dried trichs back into the oil it will make a nice stable putty type hash. Of course, you could just sell the extract instead of rehashing it, unless you only have a market for hash. It would probably be the best hash around though, because everyone elses' has the wax in it.

I noticed the same thing after a while with my bubble bags. It is exactly like when you make qwiso and don't run it through a coffee filter. All that grainy/powdery stuff the filter catches seems to be getting through the bubble bag filters. Maybe they get damaged or something after a while.

It is realy strange because i didn't do anything differently from the times before. The end product looked the same but then changed after a week or so.
Next time we'll try rosin tech or dry ice extraction but it would still be interesting to know what exactly changed the consistency. The only thing i can imagine was the drying time. Maybe i should dry it a bit longer next time.
