So I have decided to go down the led road as my electric bill has come to the point where you must sell some of your meds to keep it economical,my bill was heading towards 1400 a year and I'm only using a 600w and a 6"extraction filter a metre cube veg room 300w CFL and a clone type box home made along with my TV gadgets phones it's not surprising, well I got 4 in all different ages all had a week under the led and 3 had 2 weeks under hps 1 had 7 wks and I am very pleased with the growth rate so far and the plants look really healthy standing proud lush green which usually by next week usually get a little N Deficiency but they show no sign which I'm thinking it's something to do with the spectrum which benefits too,my daily units would be 22 with hps eg meter reading 1022 1044+ next day this new set up I'm using 10 as I'm saving with extraction too as it's on number 3, I had them too far in the beginning the women said 2m instead of 2ft closest lol, this is my first Go so go easy I'm landed with the temps too 70 night 76 day with 63 night 48 humidity day, anyone who owns Budmaster and can chip in advice please do opinions are a good thing lol

id use that to replace your 300W CFL Veg light and flower under your 600W HPS. considering your veg is prob on 18-24 hours a day, that should put a good dent in your electric bill.

the hps buds look great, i dont think that 180W LED has enough power to do that for you (it can grow nice buds but not a whole tents worth)

also with the lenses on that model you should be a few feet above the plants. in your pic its a way too close, a flamethrower in the middle and dim outside of that. that light wants to be 36" or more to get any decent footprint

It's the hps sucking the juice mate my CFL is still on I've taken hps away problem solved it was killing me mate, I am getting conflicting information about height from canopy mate some say 3ft some say 1m80 some say as close as 65cm in flower only according to paul from Budmaster I even sent him a email, I am trialing atm and they seem to be responding best at 80 -100cm but I have got different height age plants so I can get a measure with the one's that are lower, and I totally agree about coverage mate I am getting a couple of cobs for the dull area, I have seen them on AliExpress Cree 3590 what you think?

everything is pulling power, of course you will see a huge reduction by swapping 600W with 180W

just dont expect to yield half as much bud with that light compared to the HPS

the CFLs are about half as efficient as both the HPS and the new LED. if you want to maximize efficiency (bud grown per kWh used, tht would be the first thing to eliminate

as for hanging height, figure out the area you want to cover, and get a cheap light meter or use a phone app. the light in the darkest part of the space should be at least hald of what it is directly under the center of the light

those are fine but there are better more cost effective options for cobs

I'm gonna stick with my plan as I have seen icemuds journals and I have noticed he's got 2 GOD 4s in a 2mx1m tent and he has got another grow where he has got the buds as close as 50cm and they're beauties, I am always hearing people say that about LED and I've seen grows with led that are getting 1.5g per watt, grow mau makes his own and i done my research before I went ahead cause I too thought led wasn't quite there yet but with the right amount of quality LED and you should have a equal to a hps, I am seeing these buds swell on these critical 2s and I am impressed but we'll see at the en they're only 4 wk ATM, what would you suggest for cheap cost effective LED supplements then? I'll look into it thanks

it is there, has been for awhile

again that fixture you have is only 180W and is highly focused. 180W of decent LED is enough for about 6 square feet (0.55 sq meter). to get a uniform 0.5 sq m out of that fixture youre going to want to be at 60-90 cm above canopy

yes you can get within 50 cm, but your footprint is drastically reduced to 0.35 sq meters or less. you'll grow great bud in that square, just a lot less of it because the area is so small

growmau5 has a ton of great info, the intro vids he made are several years old, cree hasnt released any new generations of products in that time, other mfrs have been thru one or two gens. citizen, vero, and luminus are popular chips that do the exact same thing as cree 3590s at half the cost per chip

the white light from cobs or other phosphor white sources will be superior and give you better plants than the red and blue alone in the god fixture. if you wnt cheap supplemental lights get the regular LED lightbulbs locally and rip the covers off. see this thread

8-10 of those are less than $100 (in the US) if you arrange them in a square around the god fixture itwould light that whole tent up well at 300W. hang them all as high as you can an you'll get excellent mixing of the white and purple spectrums

also 10 of those bulbs (150W) could replace your 300W cfl veg garden and screw right into the sockets. would save you a ton of electricity. they are literally twice as efficient as CFL

My measurements of my cupboard is 86cm X 97cm it's not that big and I'm almost hitting 32w per sq ft
