i can't tell from this post how you really feel about the words he said. what is hard to deny?

i read some rhetoric about keeping our nation safe requires us to keep fighting an illegal war.

i read some crap about 'we're too dependant on foreign oil'. (i thought that was why we were there in the first place?)

i heard good news that there will be tax cuts to help get medical coverage.

and then more crap on the illegal war. there was enough bullshit in that speech to grown shrooms.

I loved the part about Iraqi's joining the military instead of joining the insurgency. He admits that those who have killed our soldier's are now joining their army and police, kinda scary if you think about it. Just goes to show how badly we are truly failing in Iraq when we are allowing criminals to police the country. It would be like having a police shortage here and them going to a prison or a county jail to get recruits. Just plain dumb.

Casualties of War - Putting American Casualties in Perspective
by
- November 3, 2003
The United States of America has a somewhat unique relationship with war. While America is considered to be the most militarily powerful country in the world today, Americans as a whole have never experienced war in the way that many other countries of the world have. There is a huge disparity between the American experience of war and the global experience. This may have an impact on American attitudes towards war. Presented below are various statistics on causalities of war. The information is useful for reference material, but it is also useful for gaining an understanding of the human cost of war, and the cost of war for Americans compared to the rest of the world, which may be helpful in understanding cultural attitudes about war.
The total number of Americans killed in action from all major wars combined, the ten listed below, is 2,757,196, which, while a disheartening number, is about the same as the number of Vietnamese that died in the Vietnam War alone.

(Note that Australian, British, French, Chinese, Laotian, Cambodian, and several other nationalities were involved in the Vietnam war as well, but I don't have their statistics shown here. Laos is actually the most heavily bombed country in world history, and one person is still killed by American bombs an average of every two days in Laos currently, some 25 years after the war. It is estimated that it will take another 100 years to completely rid Laos of all the unexploded American ordinance that remains in the country.)

American dead - 58,169
Vietnamese killed by American military - 1,165,000+
The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, also known as The Wall, is 493 feet long, or almost 1/10th of a mile. A Vietnamese equivalent to this memorial, including both North and South Vietnamese military and civilians who were killed by the American military, would be 9,903 feet, or almost 1.9 miles, long. This does not include disease and starvation deaths, injuries, or South Vietnamese killed by the North Vietnamese Army.

Very good info, I have actually been looking for facts and figures of this nature and have never really found anything as in depth as this.

This brings me to another point, this generation was spoiled with quick lightning conflicts that lasted a fews days, weeks, months and cannot come to grips with the idea that some things take time, we arent baking a fucking cake here people. This isnt the Jiffy-Pop assault like Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia was.

Come to terms people with the fact that we are in Iraq, we have been in Iraq, and we are going to be in Iraq for a long time to come. I don't care how many letters you write, how many sit-ins you go to, how many laps around the White House you do with a pickett sign in your hands, how much you piss and moan we are there to stay. Suck it the fuck up, like all you assholes that still drive around with Vote for John Kerry bumper sticker on your cars, fuck you he lost, get over it. We are in it to win it in Iraq, that is going to cost american lives, its sad but its true. They are over there fighting to keep the war over there and not strapped to some assholes chest on the city streets of this country.

Oh yeah, if there is one thing I can't stand its the support the troops and not the war slogan. What the fuck is that? I am a vegetarian but, I support the meat packing industry? Be honest with yourselves at least. For fucks sake.

Ask the Iraqis How they feel about the war, they just want us the fuck out. This neo-con imperialism is making the USA the most feared and hated country on the planet. It's people like you Chris that are allowing this to continue. Pull your head out, this is not a war worth winning. The only winning to be done is by big oil and the war contractors, the soldiers are paying for them in blood. This is not a war against terror, terror is an Idea, not a country. We're killing Iraqis by the thousands to save them? WTF is that? Bush is a lying coniving scumbag, a multi-millionaire that cares not about anyone but his rich friends. Look into his lying face during speeches, if you can't see the lies, My friend, you need a tune up.

you keep sighting the propeganda stats bro, I know Iraqis I do Business with them everyday, . that real stat says 47% want us to leave and say the surge made thier lives harder.

let me tell you why it is harder. there are check points about every 50 yards in some places and cerfuws and stuff like that due to the surge. this is making them safer and killing 1,500 Al-quda terrorists a month on average. but obviously they are not going to like it. its kinda like eating you vegatibles, you may not like it but you know its for your own good.

please dont speak for people you dont even have a glimmer of hope of really knowing. anyway the sad thing about dems is they site the american polls that say most dont agree with the war. but the whole reason we the people elect leaders is for them to make the informed desitions for us. polls mean nothing infact to listen to them is pandering, & disingenuous

imagine if you let the people vote on when to pull out of a war, you know the people "us" are like woman one day they are down for the war the next they dont like it and so on. that is not how you lead, you lead by being a leader

and might I remind you the american people elected President Bush not one, but twice, so please....just please...please man I need to smoke sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobad!!!!

correct. we, americans, don't get shit off the oil. but the oil companies do, in their time. think: the CIA's very job description is to remove unfriendly regimes from world scene and replace them with U.S. friendly rulers. This is a U.S. government agency with this immoral task, and it isn't the only one. This government has assumed control of that region of the planet for the expressed purpose of access to their one resource; oil.

look at the players and the behind the scene players, those benifiting from the war and the no bid contracts of this war.

we have a law which dictates how wars are to be fought. this war was never declared (in violation with the Constitution), because the evidence of the imminent threat to the U.S. was too flimsy to be scrutinized. as it turns out, each premise for preemptive war was shown to be false. bad data or lies; you decide.

either way, if they violate the law, they are criminals. and what they have done, is illegal. or do you feel the president is above the law? well, you must believe he is a king. and we americans said 'FUCK OFF' to the last asshole king we knew. what do you think will we say to this one?

And yet ... without a peep from the Left, Janet Reno is walking free. Go figure.

Vi
Ancient history. Come to the current party VI where republicans do bathroom duty and start pre-emptive wars. Reno's bad decision only cost 50-60 lives, Bush's bad decisions have cost over 600,000 lives. and hundreds are dying every day. That was then, this is now. I also didn't approve of the waco thing, goddamn ATF going after a man of God like animals when all they had to do was lie in wait for him in town and snatch him. Koresh may have been a little looney, but he was hurting no-one. But this regime is hurting-killing thousands and they're doing it now.
