I read somewhere in the GrowFAQ that plants in flowering actually grow more during their 12hr dark cycle than they do with lights on. This is because they are not undergoing photosynthesis and can use their nutrient reserves and energy purely for building growth. The best growing temps are considered to be 60-80F (w/o CO2),, with a 10deg drop with lights off.

Marijuana can survive temperatures from 32 degrees F to over 100 degrees F. Cannabis will grow best with a temperature of 70 to 75 degrees F day and night. Higher than 90 degrees F the enzymes within the plant begin to breakdown and photosynthesis is affected. The same is true for low temperatures.

Photosynthesis also generally slows at 55F. So if your temp is below that when the lights are on, then energy isn't being created/stored efficiently.

Well im not really sure how cold mine are getting at night, but i know its got to be colder than 60. With lights on things are like 72F. Oh Kevin, have you ever tried using Miracle Grow Garden Soil (For Flowers & Vegetables). I noticed you yourself was a MG user and wondered if you knew anything about it since its what im currently using. Should be great winter.

Wrong.... All plant growth basically stops at around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything near freezing can cause foliage(leaf) damage, which you don't want.

hey phreak, mg soil is great, just be careful with over watering. over watering releases to much of the added fertilizers. i like using the mg organic with a bit of perlite and lime mixed in

I would make sure to keep the temperature above 55F at night because plants stop doing what they do when it gets any colder. There are many ways to keep them warm and you dont need me to list them. Just pick one and stick with it.
