Buying 4x2x5/6 tent, height differences...

So I'm looking to buy a 4x2x6 tent, but may consider getting a 5'. Ideal plan for this tent is to scrog it with 2 plants, running 300w samsung led strip light. So maybe 5' won't be a huge problem since I'm using a scrog, but the extra height is always nice.

I have a 2x2x4 and 48" is not very tall at all after minus light hanging, pot, and everything else to factor in when growing in a tent. I can pretty much grow my plants to 8-9" before I have to flower them considering they'll double in height, so I can only get my plants about 16-18" tall from the base of soil. With an extra 12" I can get them roughly 2.5 feet tall max which seems ok for a 4x2 scrog set up. But like I said having the extra foot could help a ton.

I can find a good 4x2x5 for about $60-75, but all 6' tall tents seem to be very cheaply made or they're brands like SGS or mars hydro that charge $120 a tent.

1.Are mars hydro tents that durable and worth the extra money?
2. Will 12" with the way I plan to grow make a huge difference or should I just roll with a 5'?
3. Anyone have a brand they recommend when it comes to tents? I currently use a coolgrows.

My mars tent is every bit the quality of my Secret Jardin.. quality corners.. plenty of ports etc.

with that said.. I also have a couple cheapo 4x2 and they did the job just fine..

If you have the room for the 6' I would get..

Yeah was looking to get one for arnd $60 found a couple, if I spend 80 I might as well drop another 20 and get the mars hydro 48x24x70 tent for 100 on amazon lol. I seen a 4x2x5 viparspectra tent that look decent for 60.

That's actually the exact tent I was going to buy for a 72" tall one lol. Cheapest and most durable built looking one for the price and they have metal lock bars, where most cheap ones have plastic that just slide in.

I'd go for the tallest tent you can afford that fits in your space. Even if you dont need the extra height right now you might change your setup or growing style in the future and wouldn't need to buy another tent.

Well I mean I'm putting it in my bedroom and I don't plan on growing super tall plants, if anything I'd buy a new tent and go 3x3 which I still am considering I could throw a 4x4 in here but it would be packing my room. But I'm trying to save on space so I'm getting a 4x2 which seems perfect, plus I already have a 2x2x4 in my room so this is going to be adding on.

I'm just trying to get a perpetual grow going to where I can harvest about a half p every 4-8 weeks. Going to use my 2x2x4 for vegging with my t5 fixture.

You might want to look at Apollo tents too. I used to have a 4x4 that was decent and if i remember right it was around 100 bucks

oh fuck all that, get the 4x4. if you end up on the 8 week end, sounds like you'll just be doing a single flower cycle, and if that's the case then load that fucker up. I have 3 tents and I want 6 more and all of them to be bigger. i'm saying, you'll always want more space. Make that investment once.

Could, but I only got a single 300w viparspectra lol. About to buy a 150w Samsung strip led to add on until I can afford more strips/watts. I’d have a 4x4 with little to no light for a while.

oh yeah, thats right. hmm. dont buy the strip, buy a 600w aircooled hood setup on amazon, with the ballast, hood, bulb, timer included. you can do taht for like 140 for a great setup. when you're ready later on for something more, just throw a 1000k ballast on there. Extraction fan for like 50, and some ducting is cheap.

Not really trying to switch from LED to be honest, rather just upgrade my led.

I was going to buy strips because someone has a good deal then just upgrade and add more strips from there so I don't have to buy another light. Can just add on and re-build a whole new light strip if I switch the size of my tent set up.

My birthday is next week and I got a $150 card to spend on whatever, looking to go from growing 2 oz to qp/hp on a budget.

I have a 2x2x4 with a single viparspectra 300w led. I was also thinking of buying the strip led, put it in my 2x2x4. then taking my viparspectra and put it in my closet and have a single plant growing under it. That could work out well too and I'll be able to hold off on buying a tent for a couple weeks.

I have a 4x2x5 tent. I would recommend a 4x2x6. If I could go back now, I'd definitely go with the taller one.

I vegged my bag seed until it was 10''. After switching to 12/12 and going through it's stretch, it ended up being 32'' tall. With a 10'' pot, that put the top of my plant at 42'' tall. My light hangs down about 8'' from the ceiling, so I only have 10'' between light and plant.

I'd appreciate the extra foot of space right now.

No scrog? I plan on having my scrog set at about 26-28" from the ground, if I got a 5' tall one it gives me about 32-34 inches to work with.

I figured, light hangs 10" down, pot is 10" and light say 12" from top of canopy when in flower.

That leaves me with 28" from where the top of the canopy should be and the base of the soil.

If I flower roughly at 12-14" let them grow into the scrog the first two weeks, they'll double and maybe a little more. Which will bring them to 28-32".

Now I don't know exactly cause I haven't done this yet, but it's just my calculations. Maybe I should just get the 72" lol.

Im a big fan of LED but if you're looking to maximize your space I'd give strong consideration to what rbjf suggested. you get the 4x4 and your doubling your space and you will at least double your yield with the 600.

Dont even consider the 5' unless your limited for whatever reason. Its always good to have extra space to fiddle around with your fan/filter if you need to etc.

So go with a 4x4x6 with a 600w hps? Will one single 600w hps be enough for a 4x4?

I could only buy the light or tent right now, then I'd have to buy the other in about two weeks or so. That's why I'm on a cheap $150 budget...

My original plan was to get a 4x2x6 tent, buy another 300w viparspectra which could get both on amazon for $150, throw my other 300w viparspectra in it with it. And go from there, it's not the right way to invest my money, but it will get me to where I can get over a qp. Starting cheap having 2x 300w lights in a 4x2. If I can get 6-8 oz from a cheap set up like that I can invest into some good actual equipment in a couple months. Just need to keep it very cheap atm and get over a qp minimum.

I was looking at this and this...

gotcha.. do u already have filter/fan?

I just use a 6" round fan for an exhaust and a tower circulating fan inside the tent. I don't have a carbon filter yet, will invest in all of that later down the road. I don't worry about the smell though, it stinks up my room but I have my own house with my brother and one other room mate and we all smoke.

Like I said I got $150 to spend now and I'm trying to invest that into getting over a qp.

Do you think with this light in my 2x2x4 I could get over a qp with 1-2 plants and a scrog? Then just use my viparspectra as a veg light in my closet or something... or I could even grow a single plant in my closet under the viparspectra for extra.

/I could possibly even get this one @ 200w and toss it in my 2x2...

https://www.omegalight.net/product-page/200wx6

My last grow I got 68 grams from 2 plants under my 300w viparspectra in my 2x2, I figured I could double that with another light and double the space while keeping it very cheap. I can upgrade to much better equipment later down the road in 2-3 months.

Or I can buy that light if it really is that much better as everyone on here told me, toss it in my 2x2 and try to get a qp from it. Then I can buy a 4x2, and buy more strips and build a new samsung strip set up later on when I have more money.

...Just trying to make my budget get the best yield in the end run. I know $150 isn't much to work with at all obviously, but it is possible I think for what I want to accomplish. I'm only on my second grow...

Nice! Well since you dont have to worry about that shit have u given any consideration to growing vert?

Throw a 600 in the basement. If you do it right you got a lb!

No? What do you mean exactly by that? I don't have a basement lol. My room is the only option to grow in. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 living room.
Need to keep it safe as well so I have locks on my door lol.
