Bvv press: stay away

Got this pneumatic press from BVV, marked 600 bucks down from 1000.
After using it for 15 minutes a spark shot out from the top of the unit.
I contacted BVV and they said I can arrange for a freight pickup and that they will take a look to make sure I didnt damage it and then refund me as they dont have any more in stock. Now who knows how long that will take?
Anyways I decided to see what the problem was so I opened her up.
The circuit board was a mess, wires installed facing the wrong direction (putting tension and in one case a wire popped out of the circuit) and the cause of the spark was a winding on a transformer that wasnt insulated, it came in contact with a metallic wiring jacket causing a ground short.
For a 1000 dollar unit I would expect better quality. There customer service was decent but I didnt like being told that I am the one to arrange freight pickup which would be my expense and that they might refund me if it wasnt my fault....I mean, the press failed within minutes.20201216_171139.jpg20201216_171139.jpg20201216_115610.jpg20201216_115420.jpg

I've gotten a couple columns from them and they were top notch but I probably will go elsewhere from now on

Update on this post:
I took the unit to an electrician who examined the unit. Basically he told me it was a mess and shouldnt have been shipped in this condition. I contacted BVV and they said it was a fire sale item because it had been used and might have been a display item...its also designed to run on a european 220v, not an american style 240v, though they did state is should still work on an American circuit. My electrician disagreed but whatever.
At any rate they have refunded me the entire amount for the press and also told me I can keep it and do with it as I please.
So all in all I am happy with BVV customer service, as I've stated before I've gotten some top notch gear from them before so I dont think this experience is indicative of what they sell and wouldnt prevent me from further purchaes from BVV.
I wanted to give an update cuz I dont wanna put BVV on blast when they have righted the situation.

They righted the situation by refunding your money but they still sold you a garbage product to begin with. Lucky it didnt cause an explosion.

Finding poor quality with my new press and most electronic any thing.

I'm thinking build your own or buy used from a fellow presser trying to move up. No surprises.
