i thought that at first, but it all depends on what quality you are after. yeah, i harvested some grows without adjusting ph, and to be honest, they taste terrible comparatively to ones grown properly. for instance, a full dose of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom takes my tap water of 8.2 all the way down to 4.8. I watered the plants with that 4.8 ph oblivious to the fact that it destroyed the quality of my bud. leaves hardened and curled and browned and yellowed, including trim leaves deep inside the thick buds. then, that brown decomposing trim leaf in the buds caused rot and terrible taste/smell. trust me. sure, i still yielded as much as a quarter pound per plant, but the end result was not dispensary quality standards, and no medical patient would want it knowing there is properly grown bud around.

Your experiences are not my own thankfully. I trust you on your honesty about how your shit sucked but I was far from that. I had green lush healthy leaves from day 1-harvest. I don't lollipop either so if they drop a leaf or two it isn't a big deal at all.

Brown and yellow leaves curling is a problem that you caused not the PH.

not to sound offensive, but look up about ph and nutrient uptake. ph most certainly will cause hardening and browning and curling leaves because the plant can't properly retrieve what is in the soil. as i already said, i did cause the problem. but what exactly did i do? i mixed a full dose of tiger bloom and that's it. there is a reason all the best growers at the clubs have equipment in the hundreds of dollars simply to measure pH.

alot of people, including me, get calcium and magnesium deficiencies simply because of pH imbalance, even though those nutrients are in our tap water. the plant simply can't uptake it, and the leaves will brown and die etc.

45 ppm in my tapwater, not going to do anything crazy to the plants. Also do you realize that ph fluctuates? I think most people think that you put it in at 6 everytime so it will stay 6... it doesn't bro it fluctuates. Just like I am not arguing with your results of having shitty buds, until you smoke something from me you can't really say much.

We are all related somehow, I call lots of people brother so don't get down on yourself about it. I never said I was a better grower or an amazing one, I am harder on myself than anyone else. I have proven it can be done and you are telling me it can't. It isn't rocket science dude, I have worked in commercial grows and adapted those ways into my own personal and now I have gone on a whole different path.

It is no surprise to me that you would take such offense and try to tell me it can't be done. When the clones get rooted you will get to follow along from day 1-finish.

I don't think I am better than anyone nor do I have the best weed in the world. What I do grow comes out pretty damn good and I am always working to improve. People tell me I can't all the time and I do it anyways to prove them wrong. Just like this instance you wanna tell me how I will get brown toasty buds that taste like chemical crap when in reality what I produced was so amazing that it got scooped up a month earlier than expected.

You don't like me? Well who the fuck cares amiright? Don't make blatantly ignorant claims and people wouldn't treat you like you don't know shit.

Yeah pH values can be tricky to deal with, there are just too many parameters to consider. Everybody who tried to adjust a CO2 device for a freshwater aquarium knows what i'm talking about.
If your tap water is "soft" (below 100ppm) then you have a much better chance to adjust the pH because the water hardeners act like a buffer for acids. In hard water you have to use a lot of acid to lower the pH and it can bounce back up when the water hardeners have neutralized the acids.
On the other hand, if too much acid is present, the hardeners balance the pH at a level for a while but they will eventually degrade and the pH will drop down dramatically. In soft water this effect is much weaker and lower quantities of acids are required to lower the pH. Adjusting the pH also takes longer with hard water because the hardeners release CO2 when they react with the acid. The CO2 lowers the pH until it has been removed from the water. CO2 and oxygen levels are the different ends of the scale, water either contains a lot of oxygen or a lot of CO2. The CO2 can be removed by moving the water with a pump or an air stone.

Once the pH value is stable there are all kinds of other factors to consider for a grower. The 2 big ones are the fertilizers and the grow medium.
But hey, lets make a long story short.... in my opinion, before you get into this whole water chemistry thing and poor acids and stuff into your water you have to make sure that you find a solution that works for you. Your tap water, your grow medium, your range of fertilizers, your method of watering, your tap water temperature..... Little things like adding some lime to the grow medium can have a higher impact than messing around with the water.

I have a few friends that were really disappointed by the pre98 Bubba. I'm usually a big fan of Cali Con so don't think I'm just a hater. Ive heard better reviews about the Bubba 2.0 which I believe is a
Humboldt Seed Org strain. I tried a cross that was made from the Pre98 Bubba and wasn't impressed. :-/
 
I've had really good results with the Cali Connections 818 Headband and their Alien OG. The Deadhead OG is great smoke too. I just got a free pack of their Chem4OG from a photo
contest they had. I love my Cali Con gear.

Looks absolutely great!!! I love the back n forth about who's got the "original" these days. I say WHO CARES! you may or may not have a piece of original Genetics. I'm going with Humbolts Bubba because of affordability. By the way. According to 2 sources...the original Bubba DID NOT turn purple. IDK. who knows.
