California Gubernatorial Recall Election

How about if cops stop killing the people they are supposed to protect? If you want to stop protests against fascists in the police force, then do something about fascists on the police force.

This guy represents a threat to our way of life:

He should be shot by firing squad.

Are you nuts???? Everybody on the Right was outraged by the lawlessness and arson. That’s as insane as saying the cops were paid to kill that guy so people could go riot. Where the hell do you come up with that shit? The ones burning and looting were NOT right wingers
Eric Chauvin was the real threat.

If you want protests against police brutality to end then end police brutality.

I am reading the pamphlets that accompany my ballot for this recall election.

I will be voting no on the recall, which I believe is an attempt by the Repugs to grab power in this state.
In fact, reading the statements of candidates who identify as Republican, I am seeing an almost closed phalanx of people who want to bring "Christian values" to the state's government. I read this as a codeword for MAGA loyalty.

But a recall election like this has an interesting wrinkle. The ballot has two questions. One is "recall y/n?"
The other is "favored alternate?"

I count 42 contenders for office should Newsom get recalled. I am certainly not going to vote for a Republican, since NOT ONE of them has distanced himself (Caitlin gets a different pronoun out of respect, but stands zero chance of getting my vote even though I identify as LGBTetc) from the orange satan.

The only viable candidate in the political center I see is Brandon M. Ross. He has my vote provisionally. I am asking the non-MAGA old guard in this subforum -

Do you have a reason I should choose another? Holly Baade tells us nothing about herself, so (penalty buzzer). Joel Ventresca (which is the name of a wonderful food) calls himself a Berniecrat, so a) too far to the left for me, and b) I doubt he will be able to lead because of that, without abandoning his stated politics. The remainder are fringies focusing on cannabis or the film industry, or stuff.

I welcome any opinions or rebuttals from all y'all.
Pretty sure you vote No, and that’s it. The second question is an attempt to disqualify your ballot. Double check this, but if you vote no, there is no need to choose on the second question. They make this purposely confusing. Def don’t want to be spreading misinformation, but I think I just read this somewhere. Fact check for sure.

I believe this is a legitimate concern. My wife is only voting no with no write in for this reason.

Of course if you vote yes, then you need to choose, but I think if you vote no, and also vote on the second question, your vote is disqualified. These sneaky MAGA scum.

Looks like you can vote no, but still select a non-right wing troll candidate incase it happens.

Only under a narrow set of conditions. Your posts contain disinformation.

Asking for the alternative that you would vote for will not elect that person from what I think. It would come up on the next ballot for vote for someone else and those that got the most votes in this recall will be on that ballot. Is this correct? not positive

I mean, I prefaced with i”I think” and “facy check yourself” pretty obvious I was t trying to mislead anyone. Just trying to offer the OP a chance to google themselves, and find the same info I read.
No worries.
But “fact check it yourself” is used by trolls. It is generally better to provide a link that supports or qualifies what youre saying.

For sure. And under further research, I found out that yes Newsome is saying to vote no and done, but the second question on who would replace him, doesn’t disqualify your vote. My bad. Def not trying to spread lies. I can’t stand that shit. I seriously don’t know WHY you would vote in the second question, if no. You can vote him out next year. This whole thing is a waste of money and a Republican attempt at a power grab. Complete hogwash nonsense if you ask me. Anyway, I’ll stay outta the political stuff on here. Y’all are very good to me On here. Cheers a d thank you all for all your help!

My rationale for selecting someone is to counterbalance those voting for the Republican candidates. Many of those claim religion as a motive factor, and that correlates with hard-right MAGA sympathies. It’s an artifact of the way the state does recall elections that someone with a low percentage of votes received can end up Governor. So I selected the most credible Democrat (imo) and sent him my vote.

Good point. If a dumbass Canadian backs you up, it’s not a legitimate validation. :)

I only chimed in because my wife and I were talking about this just yesterday. Voting NO and writing in another candidate seemed like a contradiction to us.

It is. It’s an attempt to gauge interest for the next election. And only confuses people. Period.
