CALMAG IS NOT A THING

Can anyone help me understand why there's so many posts about CALMAG deficiencies on RIU?

Calcium and Magnesium are different, not interchangeable. Am I missing something, besides capitalism?

You have many newer growers that don't understand the different nutrients. Many don't know that calmag is calcium and magnesium.

I agree that it is an industry thing. Specifically the cannabis nutrient industry. It's a product targeted towards cannabis growers and is highly profitable. When you can mix a few pennies worth of ingredients with water, put it in a liter bottle, and sell it for $20 the profit percentage is in the thousands.

It’s a product that contains calcium and magnesium. Hence the name calmag. Weed uses quite a bit of both so it’s sometimes necessary to supplement.

If "cal" and "mag" doesn't just automatically make sense to someone as to what's in it, they should stick to buying weed.

I can't recall saying I need more calcium in well water

Another thread could be made about "PK-boosters".

This post belongs in the noob section like the rest of your posts.

It increases nutrient absorption if used properly. I tend to add it more toward the end of flower. You want to know what your nutrients have in it before you fuck with it.

I’ve never added anything but Epsom salts

I've never once used calmag in decades of growing. That includes soil, hydro, coco, peat, etc... I don't get calcium or magnesium deficiencies because I feed the plants what they need. And not with a dozen bottles either. Just a simple inexpensive nutrient that contains what the plant needs. There are many of them out there.

I always get a chuckle when I see growers paying expensive prices for fancy nutrients that don't contain enough Ca or Mg and are using calmag. The marketing geniuses behind many of the overpriced nutrients could sell cat piss as lemonade and have people lined up around the block waiting to get a drink. And they'd come back for more.
