Can anyone recommend a good rosin press under $1000?

How important are the rosin bags? There are several different size mesh for different products, kief, hash, or flower. I have only seen 1 person run a cheap plate press with no bags. It was good but it sure didn't look like yours!
I know what you mean about the temple balls haha.
I'm new to pressing but I just prefer it right off the press. When I put it in a jar, the texture changes overnight. Some strains it gets harder and some gets soft , peanut butter like texture. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it definitely changes color. The blueberry strain( great terps) is so sticky after pressing I cant collect it. I put the parchment directly in the freezer compartment of my mini seed fridge and leave it there. It comes out a shatter like rosin. I only press a couple grams at a time so I just leave it in the freezer and it's usually gone in 24 hours. I have not noticed flavor loss in that amount of time

It's really up to the user. Space, pressing amount and fitness level all apply. I crank the hell out of the bar and am happy with the returns. Some users wont be able to apply as much pressure as me, some will be able to apply more. The 6 ton fits perfectly in my space and I am more than happy with the end product. Saves me $40 a gram of " budder" from a dispensary which I'm not sure just isnt older rosin with a fancy name lol. Whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote...

Appreciate that, like i said, I'm new to pressing, starting with quality fresh flower is the key imo.
I'm really keeping my pressing method super simple. No bags and no press mold. I just destem my buds as good as i can, push them together, put them inside the parchment, fold my parchment in half and press. If i was pressing hash or kief I may want to look into bags.

I bought the 37 micron bags for dry sift hash and 120 micron for flower. For hash it's really required otherwise the rosin is gonna get contaminated with a bunch of hash particles. For flower I don't see any benefit to using a bag. I pressed for hours with and without bags. The problem I found is the bag absorbs a lot of your rosin that would otherwise be on your parchment paper. I saw a lot of rosin wasted when I was pressing flower using the bags. I started pressing flower with no bag and I've been much happier with the results.

I'll second that. No bags or mold required. Smash the flower into a little puck and press it out.

I’ve only seen where people are using the bags so this is awesome.
Yo, I’m day dreaming about that BOO you posted in the Useful thread getting a squish. I know I’ll end up squishing them all but some I’m really looking forward to.

I'm looking into the badpresses now. But I still have alot to learn. New here and new to concentrates enjoying ever second after charring a few bangers. And a terpometeter later nice 575 Degree dabs.

I don't grow or anything so I'm looking for personal use but also wanted to be able to smash at least a half oz a time.

And I bet you will start dabbing on the regular. Shit is addicting, especially with a tasty strain. I have a blueberry that is unbelievable. Better to take a hit or two of that than huff down a whole joint

just curious how you guys are processing live w/o a freeze dryer. I’ve been doing it in the deep freezer then hydroplaning through mesh. The only strain that stays light and flows is my OG Kush. When material wants to press dark even if I’m in the 63-25 range of BH. I can get a light color if I press @ 140 but my returns are really low. Like 50% of Bubble. Is it my pressure is too low? It’s only a 6 Ton press and correct me if I’m wrong but is 16,000 lbs (8tons) kind of the gold standard for live runs? Most people I’ve seen running jar tech are pressing @ 180F with bubble and still getting stable enough product to run jar tech. Also for sublimation of the finished product. Is there a faster way to oxidize large amounts of material at a time? Also what temp would be a good starting point to whip rosin into a crumble texture?

How are you drying your hash after microplanning? Technically, I don’t think you call it live rosin if the hash wasn’t freeze dried but I’ve seen really nice results from people that just dry on pizza boxes in a cold room.

Yeah when I posted about it in my journal I said the same thing but whenever there’s a thread about turning fresh cannabis into rosin without a freeze dryer they still call it live rosin. I was just over on the future forum and I think I’m just gonna have to get a freeze dryer if I want to start doing Jar Tech though too. I’m just doing cardboard and the freezer method. But I think what that mountain dude on YouTube that was talking about Frenchie. When he spun his rosin the color changed. Mine tends to get really shiny and I can craft dab art with it before it returns to a stable shatter like form. I remember being able to whip and cook BHO to a waffle/crumble is this still possible with rosin? I’m about to go back on the search.

I'm just pressing flower at low temps and am happy with it. When the tech on freeze dryers improves and the prices drop, I'll look into them. I dont like the idea of the oil filled pumps and dont want to spend more for the oil less one.
