Can I do anything to stop my soil from burning my plants?

Hey RIU.
I've got a couple plants in 5 gallon smart pots full of Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil.
The one plant is a Nirvana's Blue Mystic and the other one is a Critical mass 33 freebee I got from the attitude.

The soil that they are in is from the same bag, divided evenly into each smart pot.

I started these plants from seed November 23rd and I put them directly into the ocean forest.

My CM33 looks decent and there isn't much nutrient damage. but my Blue Mystic look like shit. The leaves are yellowing all over the place and the underside of the leaves are purple in between the veins.

I'm pretty sure that the soil is to blame as I've only been giving it water ph'd to 7. the run off water is coming out at 5.8. And now that I've been reading about it, FFOF is known to be a hot soil. It worked well for some of autoflowers I grew this summer, but not so much for the two seedlings I've got going right now.

Is there anything I can to do stop the soil from burning my plants? Should I just yank them, fix my dirt and start with something fresh? I can get some afghan kush clones from a friend but I'd have to do something about this dirt before I plant them into it.

A lot of folks use Happy Frog or Light Warrior. Light Warrior has EWC but no guano. The Happy Frog is a bit hotter yet with some guano. You could try cutting the soil with something like Light Warrior or Happy Frog.:leaf:

Have you tried starting your seeds in a jiffy starter pellet? That's what I do and then after a few days they are Ready for the soil. I use ffof on all mine too - unamended. Good luck hope this helps

I'm kind of having this same problem for some seedlings I've got. I've been trying to just flush the soil every 3 days with a gallon and a half of water. Then again I have a lot of coco and perlite in my mixture so it's almost impossible to over water. I noticed the more I flush the greener the new foliage grows. A lot of the old leaves are still yellow so it could also be a magnesium deficiency with mine. Magnesium gets stuck in the coco.
Not a professional opinion but maybe you could flush some of those nutes out to help save the stress of salt buildup.

Well, I Yanked the two plants I had going. they looked like shit and I didnt want to deal with them anymore.

I added a big bag of perlite and a block of coco to the FFOF and I added some clones I got from a friend.


So now I'm growing 3 Afghan Kush crossed with pink champagne and 1 Island Sweet Skunk crossed with pink champagne.

Hopefully the stuff I added will dilute the Ocean Forest enough to not burn the clones.

Just start them in small Solo cups with Happy Frog. Once they get a bit established in the solo cups transplant into your containers with FFOF. That's the way it goes.
