can I flower using hps one day, and sunlight the next?

Not growing yet, but curious. Wondering, when I have plants in flowering stage, can I alternate between hps and direct sunlight outdoors? Every other day, my plants spend their 12 hours outside let's say. Is this likely to stress the plants?

Also, what if instead I were to alternate hps and mh the same way? In other words, hps one day, mh the next (no sunlight). Would that stress the plants, switching back and forth between the two different spectrums?

Thanks.

I wouldn't take them outside unless you were going to keep them out there. When you swap them back and fourth you'll bring bugs in and contaminate your other plants.
As far as switching the bulbs, it seems like a lot of work that will probably just yield less than just a nice strong hps the whole way.

Hi matman. :)

Good point about the bugs. I didn't think of that.

The hps and mh...well, I have an hps 400w, and a mh 400 watt. I thought maybe if I used them that way, I could harvest more at one time, instead of having to work out a second harvest. I can certainly veg some plants with the mh while the hps is working on flowering a different batch, but I have the organizational skills of an ape. Therefore, the KISS principle is my best friend. ;)
