can i flush 2 days after watering?

I transplanted plants into new container with foxfarms oceans forest and all phs were 5.5 or so before they 6.8 and I had this problem every time I do this with foxfarm and a day after I started to notice what looks like lock out of possibly calmag so would it be ok to flush them and raise them up in ph to at least 6.5?

Sure but why?

Depending on how big your bucket is, how many holes you have in it etc. then drying times and how often you water can vary. You might get a little droopy from over watering, but its better than nute burn.

What type of soil did you switch from? Your plant may have just been going through a little shock and adjusting to new soil. Fox farms is supposed to be ph'd; I add a little dolomite lime to mine just to make sure there is plenty of calcium and magnesium for the plant, and it also helps buffer the pH of the soil BC my nutes make it LOW.

I have heard tons of people on here say fox farms is too hot to start growing seeds in, but have tested the theory myself and haven't had any problems. Your plant should thrive in it.

why not buffer with lime?

Is it new FF soil.......Ive never had any issues with FFOF and ive used it for over 5yrs.
In flowering my nutes does lower the ph but the soil buffers it!

Amen! I was pH'ing my water BC it was coming out of the faucet at like 8-8.5. My Buddha grow nutes look like diarrhea, so I didn't know how to pH the water. But I tried it and the solution turned straight red (low pH). I was adding pH minus to my water before I added my nutes, too! And the sample I had tested had not been adjusted yet. (For super-newbs: most nutes (fed with water) will lower your waters pH.

Added some lime to my mix, and my plants have done better than ever.

added lime with transplant 1 tablespoon with gallon and top dressed ive test the soil itself in a cup watered till runoff ph was 5.2-5.5 guy at foxfarm says runoff isn't accurate and to get a more accurate reading I need to do a slurry test I think its bullshit honestly

I wouldn't unless you are seeing problems outside of normal transplant stress. I use FFOF and the strain I am running right now wanted nutrients within a week of transplant, some folks says it runs hot but I think it is really strain dependent. if you watered with 6.5 you should let it be for a few days and see if you see any starting signs of burn.

I too run FFOF in all my girls. I amend my FFOF soil with 1 cup of powdered dolomite lime per 1.5cu' bag. and my water ph is always 6.5, ALL the time going in. I can go about 4-6 weeks in veg after cloning until I need to start my nute schedule......most of the time depending on strain. I grow 3 strains.

I ran into the same dilemma earlier this cycle because of a cheap uncalibrated pH meter telling me my soil was almost 1.0 pH higher than it actually was.

The plants I flushed the day after watering recovered much faster than the plants I flushed 3 days later. The immediately flushed plants showed signs of overwatering, the delayed flushed plants showed signs of nutrient deficiencies due to lockout.

Over a month later, I couldn't tell you which plants I flushed immediately and which I waited to flush. They all look pretty uniform now.

Your mileage may vary. My recommendation? Flush now. Overwatering will be your lesser of 2 evils. Get your pH in range.


P.S. Almost every soil mix should be amended with dolomite lime. Excellent pH buffer even if you ignore the fact that it supplements Calcium & Magnesium!
