Sup guys, my first post on rollitup, been reading for months and I love this place

I'm about to buy a small grow tent (20x36x64) and put it in this closet.

However, i am concerned that I will not be giving the plant proper ventilation. I was thinking of getting a Panasonic Whisper (will this even work with a grow tent?) and exhausting the hot air above the grow tent, but as you can see from the picture, won't the hot air just stay trapped at the top of the closet?

Any suggestions you guys can give me for my grow space would appreciated. Mostly I am interested in a quiet inline fan that will give my grow tent proper ventilation. The closet in my office is the only place that I could grow without people raising all kinds of questions..

I would use the tent, or use 2x2's to build a frame and use panda film to cover the walls. It will be much easier to control the environment and keep smell in if your using a passive intake. You will need to vent out the hot air somewhere though. You should to Carbon filter --> Cooltube ---> Inline Fan ---> Out of the tent. You will want to use a 4" inline fan and a 400w light.

If i didn't use a tent,

1) i'd have to close the door - would there be enough fresh air for 2 plants? Would I just need to open the door once in a while to let some new air circulate in?
2) The Heat - If i closed the closet door, don't I need to be exhausting the hot air from the bulb (250W) out somewhere?!

Having said this, I think i'm better off with the grow tent... Unless There's some easy way (without the grow tent) to run the hot air out ... Could I just run a carbon scrubber through an inline fan to eliminate the odor, and not worry about exhausting the heat?

your going to need to exhaust the heat for sure. Fan - scrubber- cool tube- out of closet. Let the negative pressure deal with the incoming air. Not the ideal situation, but neither is growing in a closet.

i am doing my first grow in my closet also i am about a month in and those were the exact problems i ran into, heat. My friend suggested buying a crap door and cutting a hole into it and venting it that way so think about that, i am going to buy a tent and move my op outside.

This is a pic from my very first grow, the plants didnt turn out too goood, anyways.

I had a closet grow in my closet... check my sig... but I used a 250w and it had a shelf on top so that where i put the ballast and carbonfilter/inline fan. I used white plastic (which was supposed to be from a sun shade) as you can see on the left of the picture and it was a door inside of the actual closet door. Since the fan was not exhausting anywhere except to the top of the closet I needed to keep the closet door open at least half way when the lights were on. Luckily this closet is in the basement and it was winter so it was a lot cooler than it would have been in summer time. It actually acted as a heater for my whole basement. You WILL need to use a 250w, 400w is going to be too hot for you. I would also look into CFLs or PL-L lights if your really worried about the temperature.

Hope that helps you out a lil. PM me if you have more questions
