Can I use dolomite lime in hydro system?

I finally tracked down some pulverized dolomite lime at a local store, got home, and then did a little more research when I got home. I hadn't realized that dolomite lime is meant more for soil. Can I still make a mix up for the lime to be used in my hydro grow? How would I do it?

dolomite lime even in powder form isn't very water soluable...take a cup of water and put some in and see if sink to the bottom ;)

lime is a buffer it trys to bring the ph to 7 or neutral on the ph scale since cal and iron are not water soulbe at these ranges it is pointless to add your ph should be around 5.8 to 6.2 usally this is done by adding phosphoric acid for ph down or potassium /slicate or others for ph up ...

So are you guys saying there is no way to mix it up that would be useable in hydro? Is buying Botanicare Cal/Mag basically the only thing I should get? I can't find it locally and need something right now, that's the only reason I was trying to go with lime. Is there anything that Lowes/Depot/typical garden supply stores that I could use for calcium? I already have some epsom salt for mag.
