Total bummer. I found one on Alibaba that looks exactly like the rosin tech press, but with a different paint job
I buy a virtual ton of China "clones" and when they look identical, they're usually the exact same product. MOST American goods are manufactured in China and those same factories always sell them to other Chinese exporters as well. Always. Often after a year or 2, the Chinese will improve on the American designed product. If you follow the trail and do your homework, you can find the 1:1 clone, if you're not willing to do that, you risk a bad copy that's made like China junk using lesser quality materials and such.

Doing the homework can save a LOT of money vs the "American" product of the exact same specs. If a company tells you their product isn't cloned because they have a contract, they're flat out lying unless the product is less than 6 months on the market.

The more you know.

Great info! This leads to a question I have that you touched on. Alibaba has presses that look identical, yet, they have ones that cost $400 and ones that cost $600. I can't find any difference in specs. What I do worry about is the pneumatic piston breaking under pressure due to cheap metal/mfg/quality control. I wish there was a way to find out the quality of the presses. Do I spend the extra $200 hoping it is better quality materials or is that just wishful thinking and throwing money away?

Alibaba is kind of like China's version of ebay in a way. This is where the homework part comes in. The price difference could simply be different sellers which IS often the case. Sometimes a lesser cost could mean they're factory seconds which isn't necessarily bad, or they're not a 1:1 clone and they are made in a different factory which is what you want to avoid as that's where the risk is. I have found 2 occasions where a substantial price difference was actually a warranty which was strange as it was a VERY good warranty. lol.
