Can thrips cause plants to herm?

I overheard people talking and know nothing of the growing conditions.

Maybe if they go unchecked and eat half your leaves. I've never had herm plants from them

they shouldent do as youve just been told, what seeds are they, could they be bag seeds?

Two random people were talking about thrips and their plants herming. They weren't sure what the cause was and it made me curious. Figured I'd get an answer from you killers. Thanks!

what seeds are you useing?

Ive had thrips quite a few times and.... I don't see how you could ever let the infestation get bad enough for plants to go intersex... most likely a coincidence. I mean... if a plant has a propensity to herm it will 100% do it once u give it enough stress so.... shitty genetics most likely

thats why i was asking if it was bagseed, chances are it came from a hermied plant in the first place

I feel u, bag seed or not tho some lines are prone to intersex expression.... (Thai)

If a plant is known for hermaphrodite tendencies than any kind of stress can bring on nuts

And trips can cause some major damage so obviously will cause a plant a s*** ton of stress

so the answer could be yes if the thrip problem is bad enough?

yup... basically, a herm wil herm if its a herm... thrips or mites or heat or drought.

otherwise thrips are ike one of the least damaging pests

It's obviously strain dependent like another poster posted before some strains are just prone to herm with any kind of stress especially certain feminized lines.... So at the end of the day I would say yes trips could and would definitely be a cause of herms

I agree with the first part of your post but in my experience trips suck balls lol.....
I'd rather deal with fungus gnats or spider mites any day of the week

But I'm no master Grower by any means I'm just through my experience trips where the worst past I've dealt with

my first thaught was genetics, it happens so offten when a plant hremies that breeding is the problem. next would have been growing conditions/enviroment

lol seriously???? have you ever had spider mites??? not fun.... fungus gnats okay... I agree they're weak af but thrips? come on! all they do is make Iines in eaves

To be quite honest I've dealt with spider mites so many times I have it down to a science now and I can get rid of them with three applications 3 days apart pretty damn easy but thrips they start from the soil go up to the plant and then go back to the soil again when they lay eggs.... To me they were just tougher to deal with

id ike that if I could but this is a new account and IG I can't ike yet.

I AM a master gardner btw haha but that doesn't mean I know everything, u probably have very different conditions than I have

But like I said I am no master grower I'm just talking about my own personal experience
