Actually this is quite an interesting idea. Have you put together any sort of business plan?
edit.
sorry. I didn't read the part about profit not being the goal lol. Not that I'm a greedy bastard, but a "money guy" that I know, is

Its a great idea. Have you seen the resort in Jamaica that caters to smokers?
Im baked and cant remember the name. Chick from Vap lounge in Kensington opened it.

I have done a business proposal for a regular resort and believe it or not because of my background in metal and welding we were originally looking to build cabins out of insulated shipping containers.
Im not saying there wouldnt be money to be made or i would turn it away. But my goal is to bring smiles to faces that have a hard time finding happiness.
Truth of the matter is i myself have always wanted to "help" people and it seems like a fantastic way to make others happy while giving my own life some meaning.

The lady from kensington uses an already existing resort in jamaica.
Im not 100% but i think they only do a couple groups a yr.
Plus its jamaica.
If i could afford a trip to jamaica i probably wouldnt want to be in a resort.

This is all ready being done. There was a resort at the Toronto med show 2 years ago that was catering to MMJ patients.
I think this is them.

But hey. always room for more I'm sure. So here's a model you can look at or even go stay. Scout it out and see how it's going.....who knows there may be more

Why not just a campground type facilities where you can have it as a donation type. Have sites and fire pits, showers, etc.
that way you stay away from your icky profits and have it low maintenance. Add on as wanted

Ya one way or the other
This is probably my goal.

I never said profits were icky. Im just frustrated that everything in this world is about money and as much as i like nice things.
I dont want to join the group of companies profiting off of sick people.
Running a place like this is my idea of retirement so if my bills are paid and i have everything else i need thats good enough for me.

It wouldn't have to be just med users. Open to all users, med users get a sizeable discout. That way you are both helping people and making money from those that can afford to spend it. I think although shipping containers would no doubt drastically reduce start up costs, I'm not sure how they would look in a "resort" atmosphere.

That just looks a resort that allows you to smoke. I think Torontoke was going for a more pot-centric resort...or maybe I'm wrong...or stoned..or lost. Or both..or all 3...I dunno anymore

I was thinking more pot-centric.
The shipping containers once sprayfoamed for insulation could be covered in ceder strips or river rocks or whatever finish is chosen.

Costs to rent im thinking 600-1000 per week
Cost to build 10k a cottage
Plus whatever the land costs

one thing is for sure ...service industry in a niche field.like mmj recreation set up ..will require 10 times the amount of work...to make it successful...it will be all the spin off activities...and services....that will cost or add to the costs...
and finding what actually works and sticking to that formula....will be the key to long lasting success

I was only trying to show you an example of a cannabis themed resort. You know..partaking in the conversation. Wasnt inviting you to go.
FFS if you cant afford a trip to J how you are gonna afford 1-2 million for 10 acres on the water plus all your cabins etc in Muskoka, Kawartha or Haliburton? Its nice to have a dream I guess.
I have this one with me and Jodie Emery..nah forget it. Its a bad idea, just like your's.

Now that would be awesome.
I was thinking all the regular resort activities.
Plus some workshops like building hydroponic systems aerators dwcs growing workshops.
Anything thats an excuse to hang with like minded people and learn as much from each other.
Any kind of large group would be awesome
