Hey all.

First timer here. Just thought I'd throw out my Candy Cane auto for anyone who was interested in the strain.
She's running under a noname LED 3W x 100 that claims to be Epileds.
Soil grow, 20/4
She pre-flowered 5 days ago.
Strong fruity smell in room since veg stage.
1ft 6 inch as of today and packing on gains the last week.
Zinc issues early on but seems to have gotten past it with flying colours.

Starting a Northern lights auto now. Picked the biggest seed, and boy does it show in the seedling.

Cheers

you said it right .... but i doubt anyone can tell if it smells like mango's through the PC ...... plant looks happy though
Oh my bad, thought you could tell by the leaves. Its a really strong soury smell. Smells like some kind of fruit. I guess I'll ask the wife, she eats mangos.

My buddy finished his and is drying. His grew over 9ft tho :/ both seeds came from same pack. Which is why I was curious about phenotypes. The mango side comes from more the Indica side with Master Kush and Hindu. Maybe I'm just being a nerd.

9ft o.o wow outdoors i assume ? ya you prolly wont have to worry about getting the same pheno he did if your only popping one or two beans even from the same pack should be pretty different plant to plant

Actually he did it indoor. His first time too, and he ended up stretching it big time by keeping the light too far. He realizes his mistake now but I kinda chuckled a bit at him. His woman wasn't too pleased.

Ok she's grown a bit since the last few pics, and I ran into the issue of her sucking back water every 2-3 days now. Not a big deal, just took me off guard.

The big issue I have been having at the moment and I'm really dumbfounded about, is the fact that I have roots growing upward out of the soil and I have to keep adding a layer of soil in the pot to keep the light from it. I heard light on roots is bad. I dunno what its doing. Beautiful roots that kinda glow under the LED a ghostly white. Nice hairs on the roots and they look great but wtf are they thinking?

I'll add picks when I water/feed tomorrow

if its just knees sticking out i wouldnt worry about it .... the big woody roots really dont do anything but act as rivers for nutrients they arent really absorbing anything pot is prolly full of roots and they have no were else to go

Ok thanks man. This time I saw 2 kinda arching out then back in, and a 3rd going towards the moon I guess. Crawling up the side of the pot. Jeez at first I thought I had some sort of mold. I added another cm of dry dirt on the top to cover them for now.

Cheers!

Oh and hey Tekdc, you got me thinking. If theres no room for the roots, am I in trouble here? I think it's in a 5 gal pot right now, and I'm running outta space lol

Maybe more a 10 gal... Idk

Edit: ya I'm in a 7 - 10 gallon ... sorry used to L

does the pot feel really heavy ? if so the bottom might be waterlogged and the roots are trying to live on the top half .... they try to avoid soaked soil

Not really heavier, but noticeably heavier lately. The problem I had was is she seems to be begging for a lot more water lately. 5 or 6 days ago she started drooping, and i noticed she was dry so I watered her like I normally do. Not a drop came out the bottom runoff. I figured she was thirsty. So I gave her another L of water with 1/4 feed. She came back, stop drooping, then 3 days later she's drooping again. So i decided to water her again back to normal amount... she frickin sucked that up too with no runoff... so I just gave another L again extra till I had run off. No nutes that time.

I said screw it, my buddy has been growing for like 35+ years and swears by this stuff called Big bud .. so I grabbed Big bud, bud ignitor, overdrive and bud candy. Hope it works better then this generic crap I'm using. Although its worked so far.

For sure, I'll post pics tomorrow.

its good stuff but stout .... just be easy with it and it'll do you right ... you know how it goes 1/4 str and work up..... figure someone thats been growing that long would be using maxigro and maxibloom powder its just so much cheaper and just 1 part with great results

liters confuse me ..... my big pots get 3/4 gallon or so every other day roughly

also you gotta water slowly like a little at a time so it soaks it up and it doesnt run down the side of the pot and out the bottom

He's really old now, heart problems etc. He's pretty old school but seems to know his stuff. He's learned a few things i've told him from here too. Like Fimming. He thought that was neat as he's so used to topping.

3.78 L in a US Gal. I was only using 1L, but now I'm up to 2L. So around half a Gal each watering now.
