yep thoes plack pots in the sun.... beside that they look good from what i can see. suggestion.... switch to smart pots. they breath and stay cooler in the sun... wont boil the roots. they also dry faster and will allow you to water more often which will also cool them

I was going to do exactly that...but only when they become ALMOST rootbound...and when i can afford it. I literally just started a new job and am in that financial purgatory whilst waiting on that first check to catch up on bills..i digress.

What could i do in the mean time to shield the pots from the sun but still exposing the leaves to direct light? Its 80 degrees with low humidity in SoCal, in case you wanted to know their environment

Walmart eco friendly shoping bags do in a pinch. Never used them myself but saw them used in a vid.
After hardening a week outside they should be fine in direct . Anything available that isnt so tall ti blocks light to the plant. If you have extra pots you can tightly circle your girls with them. Cinder blocks bricks ect.
