canoeing on tops of branches and new growth

Scratching my head trying to solve and issue been going on for 10 days or so. Nice healthy bushy plants that have good color but several of them are canoeing ( upward curl ) mostly at tops of branches and new growth . The weather was hot and dry then several good garden rains and back to hot and dry . Used Fox Farm big bloom and tiger bloom but normal amounts . Can't be an overwater and nutrient lockup would cause some discoloration . Driving me nuts ! will post some pics

It almost seems like they are needing water but they would droop ...hosed the leaves down last night after watering them but always careful not to soak trunk area . They have a 3' circle and at least 2' deep planting hole with somewhat sandy soil that I tilled in a moderate amount of dairy doo . Just driving me crazy and don't want to overadjust .

I think you might have it backwards my friend. You want to water soil ( around trunk too). Watering the leaves only will provide Very minimal uptake of water and nutrients. Also the water droplets on leaves will magnify in sun and can burn the leaves. I would give her a good soak, around stem and all. Looks good anyway though other than the canoeing.

Thanks man , guess I didn't word it right . I have watered them with a gallon or so prior to that and when it was dusk I watered leaves . I've always had a small mound around trunks to keep them from rotting . When you grow outside you can get several good soakers in a short period of time and then could get cool for awhile . This way I have more control for over watering . If the trunks stay soaked you're inviting root rot but this is our weather here and been growing outside for 12 years . Was afraid to water them today cause expecting rain tonight . It's almost like they got a shot of nitrogen or growth spurt and can't keep up ...lol

kind of looks like the start of russet mites. It starts off as canoe leaves and new growth coming in twisted and curled. IF it gets worse ( i hope its just heat ) get some wettable sulfar and spray them before they start flowering. could save it if its russet mites.

Beginning of heat stress. The taco leafs are a sign of it.

Thanks for the input . Spent a lot of time carefully expanding holes and watered good. I'm going with the heat stress and lack of enough moisture . I will let you know in a few days

I think that whole water droplets and sun burn thing is a myth because we get rain here and then the sun pops out and I've never once had them burn from it. Even on sunny days I mist them when I'm watering and still no burn. ....just my 2 cents but I agree with everything else you said. :)

Yeah to be honest I haven’t actually had it happen outdoor, but I’ve seen it happen under my 1000w light. A lot of the so called “gurus” claim it does happen, maybe it’s more common closer to the equator lol who knows. I also hear the flush is a myth but I’ll tell ya, if I overload my plants with the low end Optimum hydroponics fertilizer and don’t flush, you can bet my joints will burn like shit and be harsh, that I can say for sure IME.

I believe in flushing if you over feed something of course. I think many people over feed so then yeah I can see the usefulness of it. I just dont think EVERYONE has to do it.
I think indoor yes it could burn under the lights.... just never had it happen outdoors. :)

Well , after time and some cooler nights the canoeing has corrected itself by 75% . Watered regular and used fox big bloom and with the widened holes seem to help . Still have some going on but it is back to upper 80's again . Being patient
