I'm assuming you mean training the plant. It helps keep the tops level with each other and that causes a redistribution of hormones allowing all the buds to swell more evenly. It also allows light to be dispersed more evenly across the plant. In scrog it's used just to help keep the plant under control as it grows through the screen. Canopy is just the term describing the leaves across the top of the plant.
Tying down so it takes the place of that ?what about all the growth under the canopy do i just let it go?

ok I am 11 days into flower every square is filled ready to put up second canopy I have slot of bottom branches with new growth at the noids what do I need to cut to make my plant better and when should I prune as I said 11days into flower and they have grown 2 inch's every 2 to 3 days...been giving them Flora grow micro and bloom where and when should I prune the bottom...thanks in ad vance
