cant get a straight answer... need some xpert input pls

After germination im gonna place my seeds taproot down into rockwool cube...then once the plant breaks the serface can I put it under my 250 watt mh as long as heat is not a problem? Can it go under lighty as soon as it goes into rockwool?Should i wait for the first or second leafset before putting it under the light?

I really dont want to go and buy anymore lights ............I have a 250 watt MH for veg and a 250 HPS for flowering.


PS the DWC/Bubbleponic threads are second to none...and I have read a stinkin' lot of 'em.

you can have the light on before they pop if you want but it doesnt help. Yes i would say your fine starting under the 250 as long as you keep the bulb a good distane away. At least a foot. I always start seeds with floro's though. You can spend 30 bucks on them and they give you tighter nodes. I keep em under floro for 2 weeks then 150 hps, then the 400 hps for flower. Works great.

Ya...if i spend anymore on my setup my wife will freak I would like to just put the germinated seed in a 1"x1" rw cube and then in hydroton and stick them right in my cabinet with the mh on 18/6. start nutes on 2nd leafset at 1/4 strength.... should work ok...aye?

Yeah I'm thinkin that you want to put them in the rockwool as soon as they crack, once a root comes out, you don't want to break it, they can snap real easy against the rockwool.
And I've grown out seeds from HPS, it works, but I don't get great results. MH may be much better. I just stick to CFLs for the early stages, perfect results.

makes sense...so as soon as seed cracks into rockwool and bubblebox it goes....18/6 right away...

So I went out this morning and got two 42 watt 6500k cfls and two 26watt 5000k with a couple of reflectors...Im gonna put these in my cabinet until the 2nd leafset or so... then i will fire up the MH. Should be ok with 4 seedlings for a cpple weeks, and with the cfls a cppll inches from the seedlings i should be able to keep the stretch to a minimal, aye?

I have a few strains...not sure which ones to start with... I have 2 each of the following and the GHS are fem.

Don't worry about stretching at this point. The plant will not grow, all of its energy is going towards making roots to feet with first. Plus whatever grows that low is just going to be the stem of your plant when its larger anyways.
