Carbon filter without outside filter

Hey guys. So my ventilation system wasnt working and I figured out that the culprit was the white outside filter on my carbon filter that collects dust. Can I continue using my cf without this outside layer? It only has to last another 2 month.

depends on your air quality. A dusty dirty environment will clog that pre filter quickly reducing efficiency. Can you give details that explain how a new
pre filter would affect your ventilation system?

My buddy gave me a used filter with a tent and other gear but it was useless as it was plugged up from dust inside. They had the exhaust feeding into the center then out through the cloth filter. Very dusty area they live in due to a gravel truck route in front of their house, now paved.

A couple months should be OK but best to have some sort of dust filter on it. Panty hose would be better than nothing.

Throw it in the washing machine. I do mine all the time.

It will ruin the filter. It will clog it up.
