carbon filter

I have two 6 " inline carbon filters that I've had since 2018. i seem to be getting loud odor from 4x4 tent after putting into 12/12, so I hooked the filters one on each side of the fan. I had used one filter sparingly when first purchased and the other very little if at all. They seem to be doing nothing at all. I have washed the prefilters also. I've read that you can wash the filters by dunking in very hot soapy water and then in hot clean water then letting them dry, I will be trying that. I was wondering can you disassemble the canister by taking one end off empty out the old charcoal and replace with fresh activated charcoal? What methods have worked for you?

buying a new filter is a great method that constantly works for me.

since 2018? man i change them out at most every 12 months.

Thanks....I have ordered another one an ac infinity 6" that suppose to be refillable for my 4x4 tent. But I would like to know if there is a way to recharge the older ones. Even though I have had them for sometime I have used them much, one for about a year off and on and the other maybe not at all.

I refilled a vivosun 6" never again will I refill a carbon filter that's not made to be refilled. It's a colossal pain in the ass, takes forever, and it's filthy. While you save the cost of a new filter, you really don't save that much because the carbon isn't all that cheap.

even just sitting in a corner carbon will keep adsorbing odors. when i have to store my carbon filters i put them in very thick trash bags with silica packets. as for reactivating carbon there is no way to do it very succesfully at home afaik.

how did it work after the refill?

I just seen a unboxing video of the AC Infinity refillable filter. You made a good purchase.

It worked. I got pretty close to replacing the same weight of carbon back into it, but it 100% wasn't worth the hassle.

allsoo fun fact if your fan is too strong it will not remove smells as good as it can

I have an adjustable 6" fan that puts out 395 so would a setting half way, all the way or lower

I have been running my can-filter for almost 2 years with it still scrubbing away. I have another one to switch out soon or once it stops working. Granted these are massive filters with 8 inch inline fan and muffler.

I always wash the cloth cover is soapy water and blow out the canister with and air compressor outside between grows. Haven't had them long enough to say that it extends their life beyond 1year of flower time yet. It's just what I was taught to do. When it is time to replace them I will probably keep them in high airflow areas of my lung room since it's not a good one day bad then next deal but a progressive degeneration
