Carbon filters, opinions on which way to use them

So I wanna know what other people think.. I got a 800 cfm phat filter, 6 inch active air heavy duty in line fan. What way is better, to put carbon filter and inline fan inside tent and draw the air through the filter and through my light dome and out the tent, or put inline fan and connect to light dome and suck air out the tent and through the carbon filter that will be sitting on the other side of the tent wall? What's everybody's preference?

When pushing beware of leaks through your fan. I had to wrap my fan in plastic wrap / duct tape due to smell leaking out of it. It is worth it to not have the space taken up inside my small cabinet.
