CFL Fixtures

I am using a 4' T5 8 bulb unit. I want to add some CFL side lighting. But I cannot find any simple hanging fixture for the CFLs.

What do you use to hang individual CFLs? Again, this is for side lighting and room is at a premium. I was hoping to get a simple drop light at Lowes but they had NADA. I don't think anything with a reflector will fit.

002.jpgWhat I would do personally and it is cheap and effective. I would go to walmart and buy 2 Power strips. Then I would go to the lighting isle and get an adapter that you plug into the wall and it allows you to screw a light bulb right into that. If you wanted to add even more lights than that you could also buy Light Bulb Y adapters that allow you to screw 2 bulbs into one socket. I have a picture that I will share with you for an example out of my last cfl grow. I also use industrial strength velcro to hold the thing to the roof or the wall. I also use some electrical tape to hold in the Y adapters to the power strip just for security so they dont fall. Good luck with your grow!!

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Penyajo. I used the "Socket Adaptor" as you suggested. But since I wanted to use them as side lights, I was going to just plug the bulb and adaptor into an extension cord that would just hang next to the plants.

But then I saw the "3-Outlet Wall Hugger Tap". This is just a regular 1 to 3 outlet, but the whole thing can swivel. So I plugged that into the extension cord, adjusted the tap to face straight down, and plugged the adaptor/bulb into that. And it worked so sweet I almost laughed out loud.

Now let me pay it forward, back to you. I'm not sure where you live, but as you said Wal-Mart so I'm thinking USA, like me. What I just got from Amazon are FEIT ESL40TN/D CFLs. They are 6500K 42 Watt (200 Watt Equivalent). They are about $10 each. The light they put out is just so bright. The bulbs themselves are big. I had two and my hookup worked so well I just ordered 4 more. I also ordered six FEIT ESL65TN CFLs. These are 2700K 65 Watt (300 Watt Equivalent). These are more pricey at like $17 each.

So thanks for the pointer, and check out those bulbs.
