CFL PC Grow (15oz Hempy)

So this is my first computer grow! Hopefully going to get the 2 sprouts I have to flower, and clone for other purposes. Eventually this PC is going to be for microbreeding, but i still want to study cross-pollination and breeding more closely. I'd like to know more about that, and pointers for SOG to help make this an awesome experience, so advice/opinions are welcome!

I've been doing this about a week or so, so let me catch you up!

Seeds Germ'd on 03/13/09, and cracked the same night. 03/14 was all spent trying to reach out of the rockwool. On the 15, the little girls poked their heads out!


Just a few days later(3/19), the little sprouts look like little bushes, with the cotlyedons already dwarfed by the first two leaves.


Now today, new leaves are forming and they're gaining height & width.




Equiptment so far:
Miracle Grow Perlite
Hoffman Vermiculite
2x13 watt CFL (cool white)
2x26 watt CFL (day white)
1x4.25" 12v fan
1x3" 12v fan
2x15oz containers

all in a 18"x16" area (give or take).

well, i treated my sprouts to a good week long treatment of CO2 for their first week, and i checked on root growth, and i'm so stoked that i decided to start them on the flora series! 2 inch roots and these sprouts are only 10 days old. i'm a proud papa!

After giving them their first feeding with nutrients, they have been growing beautfully!

I've been giving them the general purpose/mild amount of the flora series (5ml of each bottle), and they have responded very well! i'll feed them a few more times with this mix and flush before moving on to the VEG feeding. One is developing more bushy fat leaves, while the other is making more defined/thinner leaves.

Loving how lush they look in the made-over PC case!

shouldn't they be a bit closer to their cfl's?

They are, i just took the other support out so everything wasn't as cluttered. In the pic they are about 4.5-5" away from the light, i usually aim for about 3-3.5" away. Truth is i probably could leave them at that distance, but why risk stretching?

so much bush from the one girl, the other hit a nutrient snag, but is recovering. Depending on how that one does, it might have to let it go eventually. I also have two clones from a female of the same strain. Hopefully they develop roots soon!

thanks! i'm still worried about the little one, but if she bounces back it'll be fine. I just wouldn't mind clearing the room for two clones!

Oh I bet, still prepping my grow area and dealing with seedlings.... wish I had a supply of clones but all the local growers I know are very old and medical they have registered caregivers that do it by the book and won't let me get a few clones off them... can't blame them though.

Jorge Cervantes says that first-timers should use a soiless mix, but i find it's almost impossible to fuck up with seemore bud's cfl grow. no nutes required (unless you want to add guano or horeshit), and it's easy to move outside if you decide to make it an outdoor plant.

Okay, so my one plant was getting taller rather than more leaves, so i figured i could lst this particular plant. I took step-by-step photos to how i'm doing it in my case.







The plants are now even on DAY 18!


I'm thinking of flowering in maybe 1 or 2 more weeks, any suggestions or rule of thumb for flowering in a PC?

your babies have a very good looking. check my journal, my babies have 3 weeks and they are flowering, but they are auto -flowering.

I actually found a nice rule of thumb from v12xjs. He says to wait for the extra colas to get their 7 fingered leaves. So as soon as this other seed i have in there now (OG KUSH) pops, i'm going to put it into 12/12.

Quick note your children are coming along marvelously nice little LST riggage also. What are those pipe cleaners?

Second yes my issue have annoyed me to all hell but it does force me to work from seed for a hopefully superior set of genetics than what I would have gotten off clone. Currently I am only growing bagseed in a little ghetto grow debating upgrading my setup here and starting my "secret stash" of seeds from my caregiver days... Dreamweaver I believe by dutch passion one of the most powerful indicas I have ever seen. Hashplant by sensi seeds supreme skunk I believe to be sensi and finally sensi star obviously by sensi seeds... but as I said debating upgrading my current setup and starting my stash of old seeds or wait a few months till I (hopefully if we can find a large enough house) move in with my girlfriend and her son... but I am chomping at the bit to get the genetics going... oh and today I noticed my bagseed was growing incredibly slowly and realized I have it under a 2700K cfl for veg... it works but damn it don't work too well.

yeah it's a little pipe cleaner setup. since i'm working in a pc, i can cut a single pipe cleaner for multiple ties.

When it comes to your setup, don't be afraid to put a little money into, if it's lost you'll atleast learn something. My rig cost me all of $30 tops, and i got these fire seeds for free. Pretty soon i might put more into one addition than i have the entire rig, and that's a 35w HPS. But i'm going to work it so there is a glass guard, and the heat gets directly vented out.

As far as an update on the grow, i took the tall plant out and have it sitting in the sun room, and when the sun goes down it's got about 120w of flourescent lights on it. a possible mother if it looks good. In it's place i'm germing a OG kush seed, and after it sprouts i'm putting everything into 12/12.

I used the wrong perlite, so now my fucking shit has slight nute burn!!! I have transplanted it in a taller container (the roots will thank me) and have flushed it a few times since, not to mention cleaned the fuck out of the roots durring transplant. I was all out of scotts perlite, so i just put it in a pure vermiculite mix, with a few rocks at the bottom. FUCK MIRACLE GROW PERLITE!!!! (although it was my bad)

she's recovering good, but she's not getting nutes for a few days. Since she is growing alot however, i have begun to tie her down.

Also, the OG seed has cracked and will be out of the rockwool by tomorrow. My ultimate goal is to breed the two strains, and hopefull in that, balance out the sativa/indica ratio. Still reading alot about breeding though.
