I would say about 12-18 months. Some are advertised to last up to 2 years. If you begin getting odor you can simply take the filter apart and fill it with aquarium carbon, you will be good to go after that.

dont forget, the life and efficiency will be affected by the humidity! higher humidity, lower life and efficiency.

Yes, depending on humidity but should be a little over a year... I would not suggest refilling one though, security should not be compromised to save a little dough, be safe.

There are too many factors involved to say for sure, with filters you get what you pay for, they are not all created equal! There are different types of charcoal and different size wall thickness, some companies compact the charcoal some don't so there is settling, not good.

Things like air flow, amount of odor, humidity all effect them.

I had a can 50 with a 4" inline 275cfpm and it lasted 2 years+ , I have a can ????? not sure what it is but stands 4 feet and weighs in at 90 pounds+ had that for 3+ years with a 8" at 650cfpm.

got a organic filter, took it back.

You get what you pay for.

You can buy the hay before the cow eats it or after, $$$ 0r $

If you were on a budget this would not be much of a security compromise. Considering that you can find better quality carbon on the open market for a cheaper price than purchasing a whole new filter.
