I've built everything for my grow area or acquired it for cheap/free other than the must haves like lights and buckets. It's clean, organized, efficient, has no smell, and has the same functionality. Have fun cutting into your profits or savings by walking around with your chin up tho =P I have a lot of handyman work and carpentry in my background though... But even if someone does not, youtube and a little creative ingenuity can build wonders... I mean come one, the Egyptians built pyramids WITHOUT youtube! That's some serious shit.

I build a lot of what I need if I can. Like trays. Who in the fuck would spend 3-400$ on trays and stands when you can build trays w/wheels on em for under 50$

I love the DIY mentality of that guy. If they were just going into the dump anyway, then it's even better. No harm in asking. If you didn't want to give them to him, all you had to say was no. DIY carbon filters are soooo easy to make that it's hard to mess them up. It's not like there is a lot of technology in them.

Sorry bro can't help but notice you won't get a lecko out to wire up your room, even though you don't how, but this guy is a cheap fuck for asking if you were throwing the units away - which is a fair question taken on face value as so much shit is made to be used once then thrown out...

Maybe one day this kid might appreciate and understand what unsustainable resources really means. Until then, let him get pissed at old bearded men.;-)

besides someone like myslef? but yeah i would have tried to get one or 2 myself too, i would also lie and make some shit up like that, of course he probably knew what he was saying was ridicooulus, maybe he wanted the new toy or to sell them. i wont lie i have a couple of furnace blowers sitting in the basements for some project, way to big for most things and difficult to adapt for a filter. but ill find a use for em.

just keep an open mind, he probably said the easiest thing that came to mind so he didnt have to bother saying he had no idea what to use it for yet.

personally I agree with this dude... I understand sustainability, and recycling, but if you're going to be building an indoor garden, wouldn't you guys want the peace of mind to know that you purchased a product (such as a carbon filter) and know that ZERO smell will leak? for me paying 150-250 bucks for a carbon filter is well worth it especially when you'll crop out 10k+... I take my work pretty seriously, and would feel like a straight up idiot if I got popped for building some DIY carbon filter that didn't work...

Getting mad at the dude? well that's a different story. Keep your cool, thats what all this weed we grow is for, right? lol.

anyone know where I could get a good cheap fuck..... this thread is worse than that time when I was 18 and I picked up a bunch of hot girls we was ready to go out and party till I hopped in my car went to step on the clutch and my foot slipped off then the horrid smell of dog poop filled the car. ended up dropping them all off going home and cleaning the poo off my shoe and clutch peddle..... yea thats how much this thread stinks.

I am a diy'er and cheap but very set in my ways and there are some things you have to modify to meet your needs. If I were that guy I would have kept 1 or 2 and the rest would have gone to scrap yard and put toward the grow fund.I am not going to bash thread as I know nothing about these air exchange units and will give me some more research and ideas for the future.

God I agree! Why pay for something a person can build or re-purpose. Check this thread, above. "SEE" I'm another gray hair cheap fuck,,, Who went to a re-modeled restraunt site just a week ago, I was able to cobble this grow room together with the equipment I had from my mylar basement grow. And $425.00 in build materials.
The rest was home-made including the "Air exchanger and custom built to fit door and door jam". I salvaged 6 inch ducting pipe and a squirril cage. It needed cleaning up with electrical cleaner, now it works like a champ. "I BELEIVE" When you spend alot of money on hog wash that you otherwise could grow, raise, or build yourself, means you have more money than brains!! If you feel it's being a cheap fuck to do this, keep in mind it was cheep fucks like us, who designed the proto -type of the one YOU think we should go BUY!
The original was more than likely a home made device to serve a particular purpose. There are two types of people in the world
Followers and consumers, and leaders and inavators. What type are you?
