Here's a new grow area I'm setting up under a basement stairwell. 400W HPS with hood. I took a cheap fan from Target and fitted a 10" to 8" duct reducer to an 8" coupler, then fitted a 8" to 6" duct reducer to it. I then fitted a length of 6" flexible duct to it. I taped the 10" end to the fan, making sure to leave as much area in the back of the fan exposed. (Don't seal the slotted areas around the outer perimeter of the back). With the suction end near the lamp, it reduced the temp from 89F to 83F. I'm going to fit the walls of the room with mylar.
Since there was a drastic reduction in area of the back of the fan, the airflow is a bit sluggish, so I might bag the 6" reducer and go with an 8" flex duct.
