Cheap ways to cool grow room or grow tent

Hello, I live in desert like area and been having heat issues since summer just started.
I was wondering if people would share their methods in keeping a place cool besides using a huge A/C or powerful inline fans...People have other financial responsibilities or are just plain broke (this should go without saying)
Found this DIY "A/C" that you can make on youtube, i have no idea if this is common knowledge but here you go.
im going to make this soon ! :hump:

Thank you !:bigjoint:
in the desert the humidity is usually very low. in that environment an evaporative cooler works well and has the added benefit of raising humidity and providing air circulation in a grow room. ice is not needed just keep the reservoir filled with water

swamp coolers are a wonderful thing, but just like you said, only work in very specific conditions.

OMG, I also did not think of that LOL
Thank Goodness for Weed Forums:bigjoint:
It can act as a humidifier also

Yeah, i might take a break next summer, but right now I gotta power through this heat and try make everything cool.
Need these grows to be successful or im in deep shit... Wow thats crazy!! low 90s with A/C 24/7.. how is your air exchange?

it was low 90's ambient: in the room it was 77. but 5x10cft.

you either pay, or learn how to work with the weather. cycle your work those hot months. I keep a few clones, or seeds to have something working outside. by the time they are getting done, I'm should be with in a few weeks of end of the 1st run of my "GY" about late oct, early nov.

then its every SQ inch, on for the winter(which can still be hot sometimes around here) but at least then I can use outside air and do much less cooling work. with the dual hose, it can work like you car does by recirculating the air, keep it cold/colder. while there is still 110cfm in/out in: its not the full 650cfm, which would overwhelm the A/C .

I have my old system, which is being updated and I used a server rack spot cooler: kind of like this one (bigger) https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-SRCOOL12K-Portable-Conditioner/dp/B002XITVCK/189-8806224-1611402?ie=UTF8&hvadid=78832366213&hvdev=c&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvpone=&hvpos=1t1&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvrand=10060168613897092184&ref=pd_sl_2wpw24j2cl_b&tag=googhydr-20

this unit was outside of the area and you could put a "y" duct on the outlet(cool pipe)and cool two smallish 10x? it does have a hot pipe as well, and requires a heavy insulated ducting/havoc tubing, or it would turn your areas out side of containment in to hell. its basically a three way, the unit draws air from the room, cools it, sends the cold air out the top cold pipe, and exhausts out the back the hot pipe. it was very modular you could set it up to draw air from window, office HAVOC, or let it filter room air.

my old A/C needs some reconditioning, cleaning and new 134(b) its a beast no way I can move it myself either, like the smaller ones. that's something smaller growers might keep in mind, is being able to move all the gear yourself. is important.

geez the list of things I need to get done is like self scribing scroll a curse, its not all hobby related either.

anyways happy fathers days, to you dads out there, going to call mine today...ugh see another thing on the LIST.....

...::sigh:: did it again first morning post, sound like a crazy cat lady rambling on about kitty litter making nonsense.

It's always nice to see some new info reading on threads here especially considering todays high temp outside was freakin 122 F no joke A/C in the car only kept me from dying I was still sweating full blast! Aside from that my girls grandma picked up a freakin cool fan that someone (who has money) threw away it has a reservoir for a lil more then a gal and a half of water Lasts more then my daily needs so no worries there it's like an evaporative cooler (it pretty much is tbh) which like you guys were talkin about is great for boostin up the humidity about 5% give or take :D As far as cooling my room though... doesn't do much except keep the area directly in front of it slightly cooler. Buying a 8in Carb filter for a fan I got earlier I know I'm wasting energy left and right here but I don't have too much a choice here in this insane heat I've got my house A/C as my main coolant of the grow room. Which oddly enough I'm starting to think keepin the lights on at night was counterproductive as the A/C turns on most during the day and not so much at night when the lights are actually on and in the semi small room they're in temps get up to 90's at the canopy which is worrying me in my flower tent...

can you give me the dimensions of your grow area? how good is your air exchange?

Flower tent is a 5 1/2'x5 1/2'x7' I currently have a 600w A/C hps bulb/reflector as well as a wing reflector with a 400w hps in that I have a fan blowin air away from underneath the exposed wing reflector just recently added it sadly the up in temp isn't being utilized as I have no choice but to have my current 6" inline+scrubber inside the tent which pushes my 600w into the back corner inefficiently lighting just the corner mostly but all I can do to keep temps down having the fan pull in air from the room itself which I'd guesstimate at around 16x16x6 1/2-8' at the roof (it slopes) my veg tent is also in the room which adds to the temp of the room itself but I'm not too worries about that tents temps as I keep it open and has fans keepin it good plus its just veg so they can take a lil more stress then the flowerin ladies I'd rather keep them from that stress.

As for that ice chest idea I'm certain it'll work as long as your willin to put in that extra time to refill the ice and/or just addin ice as it melts and eventually emptyin it
