after an instore instant coupon i used I paid 7 bucks for 12 2700k bulbs at the Depot

My experience with cfls is that watt for watt they are wimps compared to MH and not muc cheaper. I recently switch my veg cab from cfls to MH of a lower wattage and the improvement in performance is startling.
The cheapest cfls on a per watt basis are the 23W/26W bulbs. 10 of those will set you back at least $25, the fixtures and sundry items another $25 - $40 depending.
If you buy the ballast kit, you can put together a 250W MH system for not much more, about $75, and have something that really kicks ass. A cfl setup of comparable performance would need about 400W and be no cheaper or cooler than the 250W HID.
Cfls are attractive because you can get started with just one or two in an ordinairy light bulb socket (E39/medium base). So it seems very accessible, $5-$10 at the local hardware store and you are in business. But as the grow progresses you find yourself needing more and more lights and eventually spend more than you would have on an HID system.

I got me some new bulbs just a few to add to what I have already Ill add pic later!!
you get what you put in, but with that said you can go down to home depot and get yourself some 300 watt cfl for 15 bucks, you will get bud and it can be pretty good thats how i started now i run 4 1000's, but i didnt start with that many, all that matters is that you get smoke that you are happy with, after a grow or 2 take some money and go buy yourself a ballast bulb hood combo, you can get cheap ones with a bulb hood ballast for 275. 1000 w . it will be magnetic but its a place to start. And last but not least GROW ORGANIC DONT LISTEN TO THESE FOOLS THAT GROW HYDRO WITH SYENTHETIC FERTS I
