chimney ventilation help without killing myself

hey people i need some ventilation help!, my grow room has 2 parts to it, a 6x6x6 main square added by a little 3x3x6 square which will become a vegetating chamber in the near future.

i have a 6 inch air cooled reflector with a 600/400 watt ballast.. right now I'm running the 400W HPS bulb and my temperatures are about 78-82F and I'm afraid to use the 600 because i don't want my plants to overheat.

there is a chimney in the room with 6inch intakes, i have done some reading and there is NO furnace in the house, we have a tankless water heater that is also NOT connected to the chimney and the stove is also not vented through it... so its pretty much unused waiting for me to take advantage of it.

my question is... my room is 270 Cubic feet total, there are some fresh air vents in the floor and i want to vent the hot air, and smell out of the room.

my original idea was mounting a 470CFM can fan directly in the chimney intake and putting the little inline fan in the picture at the end of the reflector so the air is pointed at the can fan... would this be a good idea and enough to keep this room at manageable temps?
