starting a serious seeds chronic scrog. And i know that topping is best for a scrog but serious seeds. Really does not recommend topping at all. So i was wondering could i bend the top at 8in and lst my plant. Or what would be the best way to go about do this. thank you for any advice.

How many plants? can you try it both ways?
I am not sure Serious was referencing 'no topping' when considering a scrog grow.

You don't have to top w/a scrog. You method will be OK. I would LST (+maybe supercrop) to get some shoots developing. Otherwise you might chase the main cola around the screen.
I top with my scrog grows, using the 4-way LST method.

i'm only doing one i'm doing a scottyballs style grow. i did a 4 way lst before with a different strain from bag seed was amazing. And wish i could do that i have thought about doing it with the current one but would like to try that after i get my stocks up. Do you think it would help with lst to have my screen lower then 8in. Thank you for your advice

I have kind of foregone topping in recent times. If the manufacturer is willing to admit it doesn't respond well to HST, that's a strong admission, and they likely wouldn't say so without good reason. I would stick to LST, and height from container will depend largely on the strain, which unfortunately I'm not too familiar with yours. Are you growing from seed?
PS if you put the screen too low, worst case scenario is that you have a few inches of stalk with no internode laying over the screen, which you can easily just overlap with growable area as the plant grows. So I guess my main message is, don't stress your plant, or your self.

It looks like he topped.

The likely reason they recommend not to is that it takes a longer-than-usual time to recover from the shock of topping, but hey, maybe in ScrOG it's worth it.

Hmm, from those pics it's awfully tough to tell what internode, I'm afraid I couldn't pretend to know that much detail.

I always leave a couple of nodes below my top to allow 4+ new branches to come up.
The 4-way LST tutorial recommends 'When the 5th leaf set starts to come up between the 4th set be prepared to begin topping, Let them (5th set) get about 1/4-1/2 inch and then squeeze the base and pluck them, both at once and this is what will be left with.'

You can certainly top later. I would not top much earlier.
I am trying to grow my plants out a little further, then top it back so I get a good sized top that I can use as a clone.
Little tougher to clone tops, but I just hate cutting one my new shoots for clones... I got two mother plants now so this should not be a issue in future.
