I forget that you are using the blumats, yes you can put dyna gro straight into the res, but how much is really a learning curve. I have never run those, although i have really considered it and based on your results may look into a set up for my room(s). Not sure of any concerns with clogging the blumats, but you shouldn't run enough to have that issue.
A side note, never mix the 2 parts of dyna gro in concentrate form, always rinse the measuring device between the 2. The only reason for this is they create solids when combined in concentrate form, even the residue on the spoon is enough to make solids. They are fine for the plant (i have never had issues), but may cause you issues in your blumats.

I have maybe another 4 inches that I can go up with the light... And to do that I'll have to rig a light hanger with a tighter headroom than the steel wheels have. I'm thinking super cropping may be called for but I'm skeered.....

Maybe they will grow just 3 inches and stop? If not it may be time to...Come Out Of the Closet! (Someone had to say it.)

IMO, they are too far into flowering to top (once the initial crown forms, it's too late to top .... well, you can, but the effect is much less then if done a week prior and can stunt growth a little more). I would however, bend her @90degrees @8" down from the tip. be careful, take your time, use 2 fingers (2each hand) and grasp the stalk with @ 1/2" spacing between, and slow bend her around a little to loosen the inner hurd, then perform the 90degree bend. practice on the lowest branches a couple times before committing to the top

on the other hand, looking at the pics, she almost looks like she is close to stopping her stretch. how many days since the 12/12 flip? what height did they start flowering cycle, what height are they now? you are keeping a grow log right? ;)

A gradual bend is also a choice. I usually use a pipe cleaner when i do this, bend it a little more day by day until it reaches the point you want.

the less stress on her the better at this point, only from the perspective of it taking her longer to finish (which will already be longer as previously discussed) as she has to heal the joint before continuing full 100% growth (the lowers will continue growing and filling out a little more though)

Thanks guys! Yes I am keeping a log of sorts via my journal...

I flipped to 12/12 twenty days ago. At that time she was 17". She is now 38"... better than an inch a day

A question on the bending if you don't mind. After you do the bend, do you put a splint on it or something? I've to to hit the road for a few days. Aesthetically speaking, I would just as soon my first grow be as natural as possible, so I plan to stick my head in the sand until I get back and see what happens.

@3wks in, she is still stretching for another week, week and a half. the sativa leaning pheno will stretch a lot more than the other. no stint, I just bend and let it recover and build up that joint on it's own

I love that you guys share so much information and help as much as you do. :D

Ya know, in reviewing that last pic it looks like there could be a solution by just changing the mounting of the lights a bit off to the side to allow the bud to reach up and still be lit from a side angle. Still gets the light and the plant doesn't need to get bent.

Yeah, could do it with metal wire, but i never liked wire touching my plants. EC used to tie stuff up with left over 12 gauge copper wire, still jacketed. Anything you can adjust daily works great. Often i tie back down to a lower spot on the plant, kind of evens out the pressure.

Yes, maybe tie with strings attached near the tops and pull toward each other, crossing if they grow enough. Just screw in a couple tie points, eye hooks, just a few inches lower than the tops. And try to change the light mounts to pull them up a bit.

Thanks y'all. I'm in the armpit of NM :| at the moment, but before I left I was able to get the light raised by about 4 inches which will buy me time until I get back. I like the idea of training them towards each other. The multiple LEDs are nice because you are able to contort them around however you want... There's nothing to stop you turning it completely on its side or upside down as long as you maintain a few inches clearance on all sides for cooling air.

So if its gonna stretch another foot, there's nothing for it, I gotta start training it down... no more procrastinating

Ok, so I was able to get the lights up another couple of inches.... the tall gal grew to within 1/2" of the light w/ no burn or bleaching. I am pulling the tall gal over, but decided to leave the short gal as is.

also, I picked up an 8 tube T5 for my veggies

it's not the cannabis that's addictive, it's the growing ;)
True words. I wish I would have started this years ago. Puttering with the plants (mj or otherwise) brings me peace, sounds corny but true.

On outgrowing my cab. Believe me, I would like more space, but short of a bathroom addition (with a hidden grow room behind), it ain't happening. I figure it will be next year before I can build it out, so until then it's Bubba's High Tech Medicine Cabinet :-)

oh, training that top over was easy peasy.... too easy... nothing in this game is easy except the consumin bongsmilie
