This is VERY fucked up.

Fires burn on a farm near environmentally protected land in Sao Paulo state on Aug. 24.

The Country That Makes Breakfast for the World Is Plagued by Fire, Frost and Drought

Brazil’s crops have been scorched, frozen and then dried out by the worst drought in a century, upending global commodity markets.

No country on Earth puts more breakfasts on kitchen tables than Brazil.
The farms that dot the vast plains and highlands that rise above the Atlantic coast produce four-fifths of the world’s orange juice exports, half of its sugar exports, a third of coffee exports and a third of the soy and corn used to feed egg-laying hens and other livestock.

So when the region’s crops were scorched and then frozen this year by a devastating one-two punch fueled by climate change — the worst drought in a century followed by an unprecedented Antarctic front that repeatedly coated the land in thick frost — global commodity markets shook.

Brazil's extreme weather is pushing coffee prices higher.
The cost of Arabica beans soared 30% over a six-day stretch in late July; orange juice jumped 20% in three weeks; and sugar hit a four-year high in August.

That was written in September ^

This is happening right now

Ten water dams are being monitored for risk of bursting in Brazil after heavy rains in the country’s northeast killed at least 18 people and forced over 16,000 more to flee their homes in what local authorities are calling the worst flooding in decades

BRASILIA, Brazil — Two dams broke Sunday in northeastern Brazil, threatening worse flooding in a rain-drenched region that has already seen thousands forced to flee their homes.

The city governments of Jussiape and Itambe posted warnings on social media urging people to seek safety.

“A dam with a high volume of water has broken and a strong flash flood is expected to affect the municipality of Itambe in a few moments. All residents should evacuate from the banks of the river Verruga urgently,” said the city message posted on Instagram.

The Bahia state government’s press office said heavy rains have caused floods that have killed 18 people and affected at least 50 cities since early November. It said more than 16.000 people are homeless, 19,500 displaced and two people missing as a result of the flooding.

Jesus Christ Almighty!!!!
Can't we catch a break?
1st Covid & then gas & now the price of my coffee has gone up 30% ?
Somebody do something!!!
Oh, I know what!!!!
Hang Biden, right?
IT'S ALL HIS FAULT!!!!
IT'S OBVIOUS!!!!
If Trump was still POTUS we wouldn't have these problems. right?
We'd be singing this if Biden was dead, and all the problems would just dissappear
Without a doubt, right?

Alaska smashes record for temperature, braces for biblical rains
Alaska broke records the day after Christmas with its abnormally warm temperatures.

Kodiak Tide Gauge recorded 67 degrees on Dec. 26, while the Kodiak Airport recorded 65 degrees.

Not only did the temperature break Alaska’s December record by 9 degrees, but it set a daily temperature record, as well.

“In addition to setting a statewide record, #Kodiak obliterated the daily record by TWENTY degrees,” the National Weather Service in Anchorage tweeted Monday. “It is the warmest temperature on record for anytime between October 5th and April 21st.”

“Roads across the Interior & #Fairbanks are covered in ice. So now what? Ice is extremely difficult to remove once it has binded to the road surface,” Alaska’s Department of Transportation tweeted Monday. “Even though air temps were warm during #icemageddon2021, roads were at sub-zero temps, which caused ice to bind to the surface.”

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing by the end of the week, further forming ice in the process.

“There's no quick fix for ice-covered roads, so conditions may remain difficult for some time,” Alaska’s Department of Transportation wrote, adding, “but we'll likely be driving on ice until temps warm enough to melt it.”

To even imagine such a thing tells me you’ve never been there. ;)
I lived there for over 20 years, it's one of the few places where you see shorts and a parka in winter! It is a place of extremes, I remember going into work in the morning during spring at 30C below and at 4 PM when we got out of work it was 30 C above! The people were ok, folks are folks, but I prefer the more moderate climate of the Maritimes.

Only geographically.
lol yeah little did I know that I was opening up another can of worms, found some place called Centre of Canada and then the next link talked about some controversy about what is the center, at that point I just looked at the first name I heard before and went with that.

The point that is now totally lost lol, is that one day if the planet keeps warming up, that whole region may just be one of the more moderate places on the planet, and even that was bullshit hyperbole. It is just weird right now in Michigan we got snow a couple days this winter so far and had it all melt in the next dry or two, and it is basically early spring atm.

Same conditions here and we live in an area once called the snow belt.

Supposed to snow tomorrow night. We currently have issues with grass fires. Currently it looks like Boulder, CO is on fire and earlier this week 150 acres burned near me, hopefully the awesome park network that was there made it.

It's Dec 30th, just went outside without a coat to look at the smoke, pretty warm out.

I have an ongoing issue with many small grass fires.
