Clones leaf stems turning red ?

I can't say I've noticed this before
Using T5s for a light source the stems on my clones have turned red? temperature have been a constant 25c +/- with 65/70% rh.

Taken 4-5 days ago.

And today there's a notable difference in colour.

They're doing fine its curiosity not a problem.

Red leaf stems are normal; not a big deal. Clones usually look pretty bad until roots hit the dirt again. If you gotta leave rooted clones in the cloner for any length of time add a few extra drops of rapid start to the water….meager npk with root growth hormones and whatnot. Great stuff and a few drops are all you need. Been using the same tiny ass bottle for years now…

Looks normal to me. Keep up the good work!

The red on the stems especially when just at the tops you can think of it like a sun tan, it's not bad.

Sunburn defense? I know t5s yeah yeah, but clones all naked and weak...prly just getting a tan
Lol you know, i didn't notice it until after changing to new t5 bulbs, 952 lux with the old and 1382 lux with the new ones after heating for only 5 minutes apparently they get better after x amount hours of burning.

Omg my head is up my arse, I've just checked the date i cut them and that alleged 4-5 days ago was actually 9 days ago.

I've just had a look and there's the start of roots :-)

I made my cloner last year I've used it a handful of times and I'm noticing that the neoprene puck is often the 1st bit to root.
I wonder why the pieces that don't get clonex often root 1st, it's a bit of head scratch?

With your water cloning experience have you found the area around water level is more prone to rooting 1st?

I think it has something to do with the water pressure; areas of the stems that are exposed to “heavy” water droplets pop roots 1st or so it seems. Root hormone is not necessary; same result with plain tap water. Clonex gel usually gets washed off anyway so that why we opt for rapid start instead.

I was thinking along the same lines of its something to do with heavy water area it's happend a bit too frequently to be chance I think.

Once I've got a bit of space I can experiment a bit with different amounts of stem submerged.
