Clones not doing so good in bubbler..

I had great success with my home made aero cloner using fresh clear water until I purchased this house. Now the only way I can keep a clone green until it roots is by mixing the 4 gallons of right out of the tap water with 1/4 cup B1, 10ml Canna Terra Vega, 10ml Cal-mag and 1/4 tsp ph down.

I tried and tried with clear water and had terrible results. Doing it this way I have roots between 9 and 12 days on all of my strains with no yellowing.

I am a firm believer that the water is different everywhere you go so methods will need to be tweeked. I do run my water thought a cartridge filter but never let it sit out. Right out of the tap baby!!! :weed:

Here is my mother. 3 months and 1 week old. From seed found in a bag of smoke no idea strain but these are my 1st clones from it so can't wait to see how pheno type is in flowering. I'll show u what I use. My dome size of clone I cut. I think this dome is probably like 10 usd. Cost more in my country.and jiffy pots.
I don't use anything flash at all.
3rd pic with orange edit on it. Is a clone from a friend he gave it to me and it was nearly dead. Brang it back to life 4 wks old.
KISS very simple.

Do NOT submerge your stems.in the cloner water. Put them about 1" below the neoprene disc you put the cutting in. I said this a few posts above. It's really not that difficult. Your making it harder than it really is. Cloning is super easy, no need to over think it. I also cut away the net pots the neoprene discs sit in. I cut all the net pot away, just leaving the solid main part the disc sits in. This way the roots don't get all f d up when you go to up pot.

If your stems are long enough, resnip the tips at 45*, put in cloning gel again, snip the leaves if need. Then start over. If your water temps are about 77*, and using tap water (not bubbled), and ph to 6.0, then rechecked next day. Temp changes will also make the ph fluctuate. In 7 days you should have roots, and maybe be big enough to pot up.

When I 1st started out, I my glues were taking 3+ weeks to root. My water temps were to blame. Now I keep my cloners on the basement floor.

maybe i should use some gel, i have been using powder. funny you say that, my only successful cloning adventure was on a cool basement floor!

i am talking about a tub with an airstone in it. i can assure you these clones were green as can be. as far as advice i didnt see any clear advice on here other than a dome. and that is going against what i already knew. i did add a dome last night and now the leaves arent as crispy. they seem to be drying out. also im using a 19 watt cfl about 3 foot inderectly from the tops. this same thing has happened when i tried using peat pellets last year. my only success in cloning was in 2008 using rapid rooters and misting them. i just thought that the bubbler setup was a set it and forget it type system. either way, the clones still look horrible and if i can find a pic of what they looked lime on day one ill show you.
One airstone? I used 4 in my home made 15 site cloner.

Also ....worked better for me with the stems just above the bubbling water by about 1/4".

yes it is a water cloner. has a couple air stones in there. definately not an aero cloner.

I use 4 of them. 2 going on 3 years. Top notch cloner for the money.
how many damn clones do you take?? 4 clone kings? i have the 36 site, but wish i had bought the 64 site,,,i may just buy another 36 site one.. my bloom room takes 36-40 plants on a 4'x6' f&d tray that's sea of green style, then i need a few xtra clones of each strain to replace my mothers.. so the 36 site just isnt cutting it,,but it works great!! when i first bought it i only had a 4'x4' table so 36 clones wer the perfect #, 25-30 plants to veg then bloom and 6 to replace mom's...damn wish i had bought the 64 site clone king though...

Does any one here use clone x cloning solution? or olivias cloning solution?(the solution you add to the water, not the stuff you dip your clone stem into) i wonder if they are the same thing,????, just clone x costs double the price.. as for cloning gel, or the stuff you dip the clone stem into, i really like the dip n grow solution as its steril and you can use it to clean your scalpal and scissors between cuttings,, you really dont use much either, just a few drops in the cup then top it off with water.. ive also looked at tons of rooting gels and they are all basicly the same ingrediant just different percentages..
garden safe, take root rooting hormone is really cheap, like 5 bucks for a 2oz jar,,,its a powder but works just as well as clone x rooting gel thats like 20 bucks for a small jar...just wonder whats your favorite cloning gel, powder, or liquid??

I've used 5 different cloning solutions/gels. By far the quickest rooting (7 days and i pot) and is the cheapest, is Dip N Grow. 11.00 will do 1000+ clones. I do 20% concentration. My cloners are 25 site. I never go over my legal 72 plant count. I am under by 5 plants at all times. It's a constant rotation of clones. 6 out, 6 more in. Rinse and repeat.

YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRIGHT!!!! the tap water from home to home is a huge difference...different ppm's,different ph, ec, etc... ive moved 3 times and with each move ive had to change my nutrient amounts and ph up or down amounts,, ive also found that in one house i used r/o water and with that i needed to add cal mag,,wile in the other 2 houses that had city tap i did NOT need to use the cal mag.. one time i moved literally only 2 blocks, youd think they both use the same city water,,but i was wrong.. the ppm was 250-260 in one house and the new house had a ppm of 82-90,, same city, same county, not even a mile apart but the tap water seemed worlds away,,,,

i am a legal care giver in mi.. so i need to keep my numbers with in the legal limit depending on how many patients i have at any givven time...ive found that growing legally is alot harder emotionally,as if you sell illegally your dealing with mostly friends, wile being a legal care giver you have a relationship with your patients and even though you may be improving their way of life your not pro longing it,, ive been to more funerals since ive been a care giver than in my hole life before... i know its suppose to be one way, but i take on only patients that really need it,, not kids with acid reflux... first you become friends, then it seems like when they come to get there prescription you sit n talk, play cards and bull shit,, they really do become good friends.. then you watch them deterierate sometimes slowly other times its fast..very hard to watch,,very sad,,and at times i wonder if i should just go back to dealing it illegally,,its more money, and far less hurtfull... grow well n be well to all

I have 1 cancer patient who gets what ever she wants for FREE! I also have 2 multiple sclorsis patients, myself who is a migraine and RA sufferer, 1 other who has gastrointestinal issues, and 2 other migraine sufferers. I don't deal with anyone under 21, and only donate to my patients.

Hmm, they're lacking some vigor = Need more powerful lighting!
The weak looking full size plants show that! The canopy is not bad but, the light is weak below and so are the plants!
What are you = never mind I went back and saw the CFL!
That's a problem right there - I'm right, you need better/more powerful lighting to improve your results across the board! I got suspicious when the "clone" you took in your last picture set looked kinda weak...

EBAY and AMAZON have some nice package deal sets on HID lighting. Looks like a 600w would do your space nicely but if you have a 4x4 area for bloom - a 1K would be the way to go! Look at Dual arc bulbs for that too.
This bulb (linked below) is $114 + change cheaper then the EYE Hort bulbs ! They work exactly the same!

https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/88210/PX-LU1000MHDA.html

If your in a financial pinch - SAVE and make it a GOAL to upgrade ASAP!
If money is not tight I might suggest you look at CDM lighting (ceramic discharge metal halide) nice stuff!

There is no LED other then COBB LEDS worth spending hard earned money on - You have to build those yourself!

Great thread on lighting - tons of info!

Oh, and by the way. If you do upgrade to better lighting. You will get bigger, denser buds and higher yields!
Good luck

well last night i put a dome over them. and today they looked ten times better. took the dome off for an hour... wilted almost dead. so the problem was humidity. needed a dome on the bubble cloner.

@dr who:

i have 2 1000w ballasts and two 600watters. had issues with keeping the heat down in my room. had ac and 10 inch extraction inline fan, temps would sit at 77 for say 6 hours then would shoot up to 88 or 90. had to shut it down being i work over the road alot and have no one to care for my plants other than a shop light and flood and drain setup. so i put this project on back burner trying to find a larger venue with central heat and air.

mind you the temps were with one 1k watter attempting o run 24 7. maybe the 600w would have been better shot. still need to relocate. hence the keeping of mothers and attemping clones as a backup.

got a link to some cobb results you have seen. how about a diy link? thx
